Description

You join the Data & AI team, a multidisciplinary group covering data engineering, architecture, AI, analytics, governance and visualization.

The team helps clients get more from their data, from building the right foundations to delivering dashboards, analytics and AI use cases that support better decisions.

You sit in the Data Foundation practice, made up of data engineers and architects inside the Data & AI department. The practice makes sure BI and AI initiatives run on a reliable, performant back end, using proven components and best practices to fit each client's data needs with strong performance, scalability and maintainability.

You work alongside BI consultants, AI engineers and client stakeholders to turn business and analytics needs into production-ready end-to-end data systems.

Responsibilities

  • Build solid data solutions that deliver value to clients.
  • Turn business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Design, implement and orchestrate scalable, efficient pipelines that collect, process and serve large datasets.
  • Help with sales proposals and business development.
  • Share knowledge and mentor more junior colleagues.
  • Act as subject matter expert in client advisory work.
  • Develop and manage end-to-end data solutions with modern data tools, from ingestion and transformation to serving layers.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer, or in software engineering with a data focus.
  • Programming experience in one or more languages, such as Python.
  • Knowledge of storage concepts and technologies (RDBs, DWHs, lakehouses) and of distributed computing.
  • Experience designing, building and owning data pipelines with tools such as Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, dbt or Airflow.
  • Experience with at least one cloud provider (Azure, AWS or GCP).
  • Experience with incremental and streaming workloads, CDC and SCD.
  • Familiarity with platform engineering, including CI/CD and IaC automation, in a data mesh-like context.
  • DataOps is part of how you already work.
  • Familiarity with the challenges of BI and AI workloads and applications.
  • Experience implementing data governance and security, including IAM, data quality and metadata management.
  • Awareness of current data technologies and emerging trends.
  • Ability to turn business requirements into effective technical solutions.
  • Able to work autonomously, balance several stakeholders, make pragmatic technical decisions and manage your time well.
  • Strong communication skills, able to bridge technical and business audiences and build good relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented, and keen to help the team grow.
  • A degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
  • Proficient in English and in Dutch or French.
  • Motivated to build the best solutions for clients and to take an active part in the expert team. Applicants who meet most, but not all, of the qualifications are encouraged to apply.
