Description

The company builds defense products for warfighters, commercial air operators, and border protection teams, running on its own distributed network platform so customers can act faster and adapt to new threats.

Founded in 2022, the company has raised $1 billion from investors including 8VC, Accel, and Valor Equity Partners. It is headquartered in Los Angeles and has offices in Washington, D.C., San Francisco, San Diego, and London, with 500+ employees.

The San Francisco team is small and works closely together on the cloud platform behind advanced radar systems. The platform is live and growing, and this role scales it as sensors, customers, and deployments increase.

You will design, build, and run the infrastructure and backend services that carry mission-critical sensor data from radars in the field to the operators who rely on it.

Responsibilities

  • Write and maintain Azure infrastructure as code in Terraform, covering networking, Azure Container Apps, managed databases, and the CI/CD pipelines that deploy them.
  • Build and own high-throughput Python (FastAPI) services and their data layer, including PostgreSQL/TimescaleDB, Redis, and Cosmos DB, that ingest and stream real-time sensor data.
  • Work with engineers across the company to shape the architecture of the platform's next generation.
  • Own security, reliability, and observability: identity and access, secrets, network isolation, Datadog monitoring and alerting, and incident response.

Requirements

  • You have built and run production infrastructure on at least one major cloud (Azure, AWS, or GCP), defined in code with Terraform, Pulumi, Bicep, or CloudFormation.
  • You have run containerized production workloads with Docker on a managed platform such as Azure Container Apps, AWS ECS or Fargate, Google Cloud Run, or Kubernetes.
  • You understand cloud networking well: virtual networks, subnets, routing, DNS, load balancers, private endpoints, and firewalls.
  • You have built and operated production backend services in Python, Go, or a similar language, and know how they behave under load, including concurrency, async I/O, connection pooling, and resource limits.
  • You know distributed systems: consistency, replication, partitioning, caching, back-pressure, idempotency, and how to design for graceful degradation when parts fail.
  • You have scaled a production system far beyond its original design and fixed what broke along the way.
  • You build securely by default: least-privilege access, secrets kept out of code, and patched, hardened systems, and you can explain the trade-offs behind those choices.
  • Preferred: experience with Azure Government, AWS GovCloud, or other regulated environments such as FedRAMP, CMMC, NIST 800-171, or NIST 800-53.
  • Preferred: real-time and streaming data systems, including WebSockets, server-sent events, pub/sub, and message queues.
  • Preferred: identity and cloud security, including Entra ID, OAuth 2.0 / OIDC, managed identities, service-to-service authentication, and policy as code.
