Senior Algorithm Engineer -- Autonomous Vehicles

Description

The team works on road structure, online mapping, and context fusion for autonomous driving, combining map data with perception data to build a 3D world model.

The work covers complex roads and intersections in the U.S. and Europe, and you will work closely with the perception and planning teams.

The role is aimed at human-level AI for navigation in real-world, unconstrained environments.

Responsibilities

• Build core autonomous driving features across different geographies by merging state-of-the-art perception DNNs with map data.
• Integrate sensor and external inputs into real-time dynamic 3D models for planning and navigation.
• Design enriched bird's-eye-view (BEV) models that support autonomous driving in dense urban environments without HD maps.
• Construct fused static obstacle and occupancy grids and generate occlusion masks to improve scenario understanding.
• Guide the team on hard autonomous vehicle problems and work hands-on to drive new solutions.
• Recruit, hire, and mentor engineers.
• Develop algorithms that run reliably on large datasets across varied conditions, meeting automotive quality and safety standards.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience, including at least 2 years in autonomous vehicles or robotics.
• 2+ years of technical leadership experience.
• Experience with embedded or automotive software development.
• Strong independent and analytical software engineering skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially with global teams.
• A strong interest in robotics and autonomous vehicles and a drive to solve high-impact problems.
• Nice to have: expertise in 3D geometry, computer vision, sensor calibration, or state estimation such as Kalman or particle filters.
• Nice to have: significant industry experience with self-driving cars.
• Nice to have: background in building real-time computer vision systems.
• Nice to have: strong skills in API and framework design.

Conditions

Base salary depends on location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar roles. The base salary range is 184,000 USD to 287,500 USD for Level 4, and 224,000 USD to 356,500 USD for Level 5.
