Description

The role is on-site in Linz, Austria, on the team that builds autonomous systems for the company's business and engineering work.

You will help create AI agents that run complex business and engineering processes from start to finish, and bring intelligent automation wherever conventional software falls short.

Continuous learning, a changing tech stack and agile working are central to the job, so the role suits you if those matter to you.

The team uses first names.

The company develops software and hardware for powertrains, plus components for the sustainable, climate-neutral energy sector, serving international customers. It also supports the organization's software development through training, consulting and involvement in strategic digitalization projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build agentic automation across the full product life cycle, replacing manual routines with autonomous AI workflows that are reliable and observable.
  • Own the architecture and implementation of complex, highly scalable multi-agent systems.
  • Work with both low-code orchestration tools (such as n8n and Copilot Studio) and code-first frameworks (Python with LangGraph, Semantic Kernel and MCP), choosing the right approach for each case and being able to justify the choice.
  • Connect LLMs with existing enterprise IT systems, engineering tools and data pipelines to build robust agent systems.
  • Write clean, maintainable code with sound architecture, applying design patterns and test-driven development (TDD) consistently.
  • Work in an international, interdisciplinary team with domain experts, data engineers and developers, delivering production software and supporting it over its whole life cycle.
  • Share knowledge, review colleagues' code and mentor developers.
  • Learn about neighboring areas such as product engineering, production processes and data analytics.

Requirements

  • You are self-reliant and proactive, take ownership of your work and collaborate well with others.
  • You care about autonomous systems and the engineering discipline needed to run them reliably in production. Clean code and sound architecture are part of how you work every day.
  • You have several years of professional backend or full-stack development experience and hands-on experience building agentic AI systems.
  • Agentic AI skills include tool and function calling, agent memory and state handling, multi-agent orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and systematic evaluation of agent behavior. You already use AI coding agents in your daily work.
  • Strong Python skills, including AsyncIO, FastAPI, Pytest, typing and packaging.
  • TypeScript/Node.js knowledge is a plus, and Go counts as an advantage.
  • Experience designing modular systems, modeling and validating structured data (e.g., Pydantic, JSON Schema), and processing data efficiently (e.g., pandas).
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), vector databases and RESTful API design.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, ArgoCD) and DevOps practices, plus containers (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms such as MS Azure and Google Cloud.
  • Nice to have: low-code automation platforms (n8n, Microsoft Power Platform), managed LLM platforms (Azure OpenAI Service, Google Vertex AI), industrial or IoT data and stream processing (Spark, Kafka), and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Education: a degree in computer science, software engineering, informatics or a comparable IT-focused field, or an Austrian HTL degree plus several years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proficient English is required. Fluent German and Portuguese is a strong plus.

Conditions

Based on-site in Linz, Austria.

38.5 hours per week.

The salary starts at EUR 55.000 per year for 38.5 hours per week and can be significantly higher depending on your qualifications.

This is not an all-in contract; overtime is paid separately.

All applicants are welcome regardless of gender, age, disability, religion, ethnic origin or sexual identity.

Benefits

  • Attractive benefits are offered at the Linz location.
