Description

The role centres on building, deploying and maintaining machine learning and AI solutions that address concrete business problems for clients. You will work with senior data scientists, engineers and consultants across the whole lifecycle, from data preparation and model building to production rollout and monitoring.

The company works with clients in both the public and private sectors, delivering everything from application development and cloud migration to programme delivery and service operations.

Responsibilities

  • Help design and build data science and AI components from requirements that have already been defined.
  • Apply established data science and machine learning methods to analyse data and solve business problems, with guidance from senior team members.
  • Build and test machine learning models, help put them into production, and contribute to designing and maintaining MLOps pipelines that scale and are easy to maintain.
  • Talk with clients and internal teams to pin down requirements, and explain technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Apply responsible AI principles and help keep AI and ML work within governance and compliance standards.
  • Mentor and guide junior data scientists and engineers.

Requirements

  • You must be eligible for security clearance.
  • Proficiency in Python and C is required. SQL or R is a bonus.
  • Experience with cloud AI services such as Azure ML, AWS SageMaker or GCP Vertex AI.
  • Hands-on experience with machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Practical knowledge of techniques such as regression, decision trees, random forest, XGBoost, k-means, anomaly detection and time series forecasting.
  • A working understanding of model evaluation and explainability, including overfitting, bias and cross-validation.
  • Experience building end-to-end observability and monitoring for AI systems.
  • Experience working with large, complex or messy datasets.
  • Knowledge of the public sector, including its challenges and opportunities, its data, and its regulations and compliance requirements. This is listed under Knowledge of Public Sector in the posting and is not separated as optional.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and development.
