Description

The company's Space Sector is hiring a Software Engineer, Embedded/Test Equipment, Level 3, for its Chandler, Arizona site. The work is fully onsite, with no telecommuting.

The role leads the build-out of a new real-time computer-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop test lab for the Glide Phase Interceptor program. Most of the effort goes into GPU-based real-time scene generation using CUDA, followed by test-equipment architecture, lab integration, embedded C/C++ work, and keeping the lab running.

The job is hands-on: you design, build, integrate, and sustain real-time embedded test capability, and you bring flight-like hardware, embedded software, and real-time test systems together. You will also help bring 6-DoF models into test-as-you-fly setups.

Candidates whose background is mainly running test procedures, writing test cases, or producing test documents, with no embedded software or real-time integration work, may be less of a match for the core duties.

Responsibilities

  • Build and integrate GPU-based real-time scene-generation software in CUDA that meets the real-time performance limits of hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • Lead planning of test-equipment hardware and software requirements, then architect, design in detail, and start up the RTCIL and HWIL labs.
  • Design test-equipment hardware and software that delivers real-time distorted-scene and sensor-injection capability into flight-like hardware.
  • Write, integrate, and maintain embedded C/C++ code for Linux-based real-time test environments.
  • Connect test equipment, embedded software, simulation models, flight-like hardware, and weapon-system hardware where needed.
  • Troubleshoot and improve existing lab hardware, software, and interfaces, including performance, repeatability, and readiness to operate.
  • Fit existing 6-DoF simulation models into real-time test-as-you-fly environments. The focus is integrating models, not building them from scratch.
  • Help develop requirements and technical documents, take part in design reviews, and coordinate with systems, software, hardware, simulation, and program stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of professional experience, or Master's degree with 3 years, or PhD with 1 year outside internships, research, and similar work. The company will consider an additional 4+ years of experience in place of a degree.
  • Active U.S. Government DoD Secret clearance at the time you apply, current and within scope.
  • Professional experience integrating RTCIL and/or HWIL labs, including developing or integrating real-time test equipment.
  • Professional embedded software experience in C/C++.
  • Professional GPU programming experience, including CUDA.
  • Experience integrating hardware, embedded software, and real-time test capability.
  • Able to work 100% onsite in Chandler, Arizona.
  • Preferred: Experience with Linux-based real-time test systems and object-oriented software design.
  • Preferred: Experience integrating 6-DoF simulation models into real-time or test-as-you-fly environments.
  • Preferred: Experience developing interfaces that support weapon-system integration.
  • Preferred: Experience with sensor simulation, IR scene injection, distorted-scene injection, or real-time embedded processing.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting missile-defense, interceptor, aerospace, avionics, flight-software verification, flight-test, sensor-simulation, autonomy, or comparable real-time embedded-system programs.
  • Preferred: Experience working in Agile, multidisciplinary teams and delivering incremental, test-driven results.

Conditions

Fully onsite in Chandler, Arizona, with no telecommuting.

Work runs on a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Travel is about 10% of the time.

A Secret clearance is required to start. Relocation assistance may be available.

The offer depends on getting final clearances and program access within a reasonable period, as the company decides.

The base salary range is $98,400.00 to $147,600.00. The company sets pay based on the scope of the role, your experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

The application window is estimated at 20 days from the posting date, and it may be shortened or extended based on business needs and candidate availability.

Benefits

  • Possible eligibility for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary annual bonus, depending on the position. Bonuses reward individual contributions and let employees share in company results.
  • Vice President and Director roles may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
  • Health insurance, life and disability insurance, a savings plan, company-paid holidays, and paid time off for vacation and personal business.
