Description

The city's fire department is the largest in the United States. It provides fire protection, emergency medical care and other public safety services across the five boroughs and has operated since 1865.

The department needs a full-time Salesforce developer to build, maintain and support the Salesforce applications and solutions it relies on.

Responsibilities

  • Turn business and functional needs into scalable Salesforce solutions.
  • Build and customize applications using Apex, Lightning Web Components, SOQL and Salesforce configuration tools.
  • Connect Salesforce with other enterprise applications and services through RESTful APIs and other integration technologies.
  • Deliver new features and enhancements alongside business analysts, QA staff, project managers and other development teams.
  • Find and resolve application issues and defects, and support applications in production.
  • Carry out data updates and migrations.
  • Set up security, user access and role-based permissions.
  • Take part in testing, code reviews, deployments and technical documentation, following the established development and security standards.
  • Help modernize and steadily improve the department's Salesforce applications.

Requirements

  • Hold a professional or vendor certification in local area network administration.
  • Meet one of the following education and experience paths.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college and two years of full-time, hands-on work (not classroom-based) in LAN and/or WAN planning and design, configuration and installation, implementation and integration, troubleshooting, performance monitoring, maintenance, enhancement and security management.
  • A four-year high school diploma or equivalent and six years of full-time IT work (not classroom-based), at least two of those years in the LAN and/or WAN work described above.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience to either path above. Thirty undergraduate semester credits from an accredited college count as six months of experience, and a master's degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college can replace one year of experience.
  • In every case, at least one year of full-time IT work (not classroom-based) in the LAN and/or WAN work described in the first path.
  • Be prepared to update existing certifications or earn additional industry-standard certifications for current and future technical environments, as determined by the employing agency.

Conditions

Open only to the company employees serving in the permanent civil service title of Certified IT Administrator (LAN/WAN).

Full-time position.

The city is an equal opportunity employer that works to keep a diverse workforce and a workplace free from discrimination and harassment based on legally protected status or characteristics.
