Description

The role focuses on the systems and physics of computed tomography, with the aim of meeting unmet clinical needs in precision diagnosis.

You will help build clinical CT systems and solutions that improve image quality, spectral results, radiation dose reduction and image reconstruction, so clinicians can trust their diagnoses more and gain new insights.

Responsibilities

  • Build, put into practice and validate new methods for processing and calibrating non-spectral, spectral and photon-counting x-ray detectors used in medical CT.
  • Bring your expertise in x-ray physics, solid-state physics, medical imaging, algorithm design, signal processing and AI to modern computed tomography.
  • Generate and pursue your own ideas for advancing CT and related areas.
  • Work with business and clinical partners on interdisciplinary projects that turn research findings into clinically useful innovation.

Requirements

  • Hold a master's degree in physics, electrical engineering, or data science/AI.
  • Have deep knowledge of medical imaging physics, covering how x-rays are generated, how they interact with matter and how they are detected, with particular depth in computed tomography.
  • Understand medical imaging technically and clinically, mainly CT.
  • Program fluently in modern languages, especially C/C++ and Python, and work with data science and AI tools such as NumPy or PyTorch.
  • Be able to advise cross-functional teams and stakeholders on technical matters as a subject-matter expert.
  • Communicate clearly, explaining complex technical concepts, shaping technical decisions and collaborating in global interdisciplinary R&D teams.
  • Speak and write English well.
  • Optional: experience with deep learning, such as training neural networks, is an asset.
  • Optional: German is a plus.

Conditions

The company works best when people collaborate in person, so this role requires being on-site at least 3 days a week.

The company is a health technology business whose work centres on patient safety and quality, and it follows regulatory requirements and quality standards in daily operations.

The base salary range is €75.336,00, €85.744,64, set by the applicable Collective Labour Agreement. The range shows progression within the pay grade, and new hires typically start at the entry level of that grade.

If you meet many but not all of the listed experiences, you are still encouraged to apply.

Benefits

  • 30 days of annual leave.
  • A subsidized Germany ticket and leasing options for private use of bicycles, cars, smartphones and similar devices.
  • Access to a wide range of professional training courses for personal and healthcare development.
  • An employer-funded pension plan.
  • Two paid weeks off after your partner gives birth.
  • A discount on the company's products.
  • Free drinks and low-priced meals in the canteen and café.
  • An informal culture with a paid day for voluntary work, team events and cultural activities.
