R&D Controls Software Engineer (m/f/d)

Description

The CTO Product Development team supporting IAS is hiring an R&D Controls Software Engineer. The role covers development, support and delivery of control software for automated systems and material handling products.

Responsibilities

• Turn customer requirements, user stories and project specifications into software and controls solutions.
• Build, test and tune PLC and control system software for industrial automation.
• Run functional, integration, stability and scalability tests to confirm product reliability and performance.
• Find and fix software, controls, networking and system integration faults, whether found internally or reported by customers.
• Work with engineering, product development and field teams across the product lifecycle.
• Write and maintain technical documentation, covering software architecture, system design and user guidance.
• Advise engineering teams, field staff and business partners on technical questions.
• Coach junior engineers on software engineering, controls development and PLC programming.
• Use diagnostic, simulation and network analysis tools to verify system performance and find root causes.
• Keep software quality and maintainability in line with engineering standards, best practices and development processes.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in controls software engineering.
• Experience working in a team and taking a lead role in developing and supporting controls systems.
• Software-focused PLC programming experience on Siemens or Rockwell platforms is required.
• Experience with at least one high-level language, such as C or Python.
• Experience writing and maintaining unit and integration tests.
