Description

The Treasury FX Data Science team at the company builds and runs the quantitative models and production systems that handle FX pricing, risk and trading.

The team manages FX risk on more than USD 250bn in annual volume, serving retail customers sending money abroad as well as tier-1 global investment banks through the company's platform.

The wider Treasury FX group includes quants, traders, analysts, product managers and engineers who price, hedge and scale FX operations in real time.

The Data Science team runs a Python-first, production-grade quant platform covering multi-instrument pricing, product modelling and monitoring, risk analytics and trading strategies.

The team is hiring for two focus areas: Quantitative Researcher, which centres on improving pricing, forecasting, risk and hedging methods through rigorous backtesting and stakeholder work, and Quantitative Developer, which centres on production services, shared quant libraries and engineering reliability.

You will choose a primary focus in one area, with room to work across both. Depth in one area is expected, on top of a shared base in Python, quantitative reasoning and production ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Take quantitative work from research or prototype into reliable production Python code.
  • Validate, backtest and monitor models and services against realised outcomes.
  • Deploy changes, respond to incidents, find root causes and keep improving alongside stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain shared quant libraries used by several services.
  • Run CI/CD pipelines, deployments and day-to-day operational quality.
  • Monitor and alert on real-time pricing and risk systems to keep them reliable.
  • Over time, you may take on market data management and onboarding new pipelines.
  • Help design new quant infrastructure and systems with the engineering team.
  • Work with the Risk team on backtesting frameworks, model validation and risk modelling, including VaR, stress testing and scenario analysis.
  • Model customer behaviour, shape pricing strategy and develop products.
  • Work with product teams to turn quantitative findings into customer-facing decisions.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of quantitative or engineering experience, including strong Python development.
  • A quantitative background in maths, physics, engineering or finance, with the ability to read a model and judge whether it is correct.
  • Experience taking quantitative work into production and owning its validation, monitoring and improvement.
  • Clear communication and the ability to work across quants, analysts, traders, product managers and engineers.
  • A product mindset: you consider who uses your systems and why.
  • Bonus: FX or financial markets experience.
  • Bonus: term structure modelling, stochastic calculus or Monte Carlo methods.
  • Bonus: interest rate curve bootstrapping.
  • Bonus: algorithmic execution experience.
  • Bonus: data lake or warehouse experience with tools such as Snowflake, Iceberg or Spark.
  • For the Researcher track: strong quantitative research or modelling experience in finance, with depth in pricing, forecasting, risk or trading.
  • For the Researcher track: the ability to turn an open-ended financial problem into a model, pick suitable statistical or numerical methods, and explain assumptions and limits.
  • For the Researcher track: experience designing backtests and out-of-sample validation that account for data leakage, transaction costs and shifting market conditions.
  • For the Developer track: experience with streaming systems, real-time data pipelines or event-driven architectures, such as Kafka, Flink or Redis.
  • For the Developer track: experience testing, monitoring and debugging complex systems under load.
  • For the Developer track: strong experience with microservices, databases and production infrastructure.
  • Formal qualifications matter less than experience and the ability to explain your thinking clearly.
  • Candidates from under-represented groups are especially encouraged to apply.
