PT Applications Engineer

Description

The company distributes bearings, power transmission parts, hydraulic and pneumatic seals, belting, fluid power equipment, tools and maintenance supplies across New Zealand, and is part of an Asia Pacific group that leads globally in industrial distribution.

The team is based in Wiri and serves a broad range of businesses in all industrial sectors, including some of New Zealand's largest organisations, so the projects vary a great deal.

We are looking for a self-motivated mechanical power transmission application engineer. The role suits a graduate engineer or someone with experience in the field.

The company has many projects planned, making this a strong time to join the team.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to customers and the sales team on power transmission products.
• Carry out design calculations and recommend products for internal and external customers.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with the sales network.
• Where needed, help develop and look after relationships with the global supplier network.
• Assess products and write reports on faults and failures.
• Share what you know and learn from a highly experienced team.

Requirements

• A formal technical qualification: BEng (Mech) or NDE Mech.
• Relevant experience with power transmission products is favorable but not essential.
• Strong written communication, including report writing, and solid MS Office skills, especially Excel.
• Clear verbal communication. You will work with senior staff, sales staff and customers directly and give presentations to different stakeholders. A strong command of spoken English is essential.
• Practical hands-on experience with mechanical components is an advantage.
• A current, valid driver's license.
• You are reliable, self-motivated and task-driven, show initiative, and think creatively. Much of the role involves dealing with many different stakeholders.

The role is based in Wiri.
