Description

The Risk PMO is a central team that acts as a trusted strategic change partner for the Risk Management organization, delivering measurable value across Risk through expert advice, disciplined execution and ongoing improvement.

This is a senior individual contributor role and the recognized technical authority in your area. You will keep up with developments in your field, judge how they apply to your work and the business, and advise on technology and operations. Your work shapes an entire area and, over time, the performance of the wider job family.

You will need strong influencing and diplomacy skills to guide colleagues in other areas and, occasionally, external customers. Several others in the business hold similar subject matter expertise, and basic commercial awareness is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Lead one large, multi-part project or several projects that support the goals and target state of Risk Management.
  • Set clear project goals, motivate the team around a shared purpose, and drive results for the business.
  • Build a project plan using accepted PMO practice that fits stakeholder and customer needs and delivers the intended outcomes within budget.
  • Act as the business representative and see the project through to its end results.
  • Work with Risk and Technology stakeholders to set project scope and objectives for team members.
  • Prepare, maintain and submit clear, concise progress reports and time recording reports, and own all management reports for each engagement.
  • Spot project risks early and identify likely problems before they happen.
  • Track each participant's progress against project goals on a routine basis.
  • Teach and enforce sound project management practice, breaking complex, interdependent work into documented, monitored and controlled tasks and sub-tasks.
  • Adjust the approach to the context and constraints of each project.
  • Review lessons learned at project close and apply them to future work, building your own and your team's skills.
  • Recognize when problems or potential problems emerge, define them clearly, bring the right people together to fix them, and confirm when they are resolved.
  • Keep senior management and internal clients informed of project status, milestones, and any current or potential customer escalations.
  • Follow escalation and change control processes proactively.
  • Build trust and communication among sponsors, end users, resource holders and team members.
  • Weigh risk carefully in business decisions, with attention to the firm's reputation and its clients and assets. Drive compliance with laws, rules, regulations and policy, use sound ethical judgment, and report control issues openly.

Requirements

  • 10-15 years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the risk domain, including risk segments and their key processes, controls and metrics.
  • Strong technical skills preferred, with an understanding of systems and data.
  • Innovation, AI and agile capabilities.
  • Negotiation skills with external parties.
  • Master's degree, such as an M.B.A. in Finance.
  • FRM or PRM preferred.
  • PMP is a plus.
