Description

The role sits in the global technology service management team and supports trading, pricing and asset data platforms.

It combines production support, data governance and system analysis to keep client, instrument, account and feed data accurate, consistent and dependable across upstream and downstream systems.

The team is growing its IB Markets reference and static data group, and the job keeps critical technology running, handles harder faults and limits disruption to operations.

Responsibilities

  • Give technical support to the service management function on complex issues for a specific client or group of clients.
  • Build and improve the support model and service offering so customers and stakeholders get a better service.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance on hardware and software, and use monitoring tools and metrics to spot, prevent and fix potential problems and keep performance at its best.
  • Keep a knowledge base of documented resolved cases for reuse, self-service and knowledge sharing.
  • Review system logs, error messages and user reports to find root causes of hardware, software and network faults, then fix them by repairing or replacing components, reinstalling software or changing configuration.
  • Cover automation, monitoring improvements, capacity management, resiliency, business continuity, front office support and stakeholder management.
  • Find and fix risks and issues that could affect the service, or escalate them through the proper process.
  • Review support work regularly, add automation where it improves stability and efficiency, and tune monitoring tools, thresholds and alerts so issues are known as they occur.
  • Manage and control production issues, prevent them from recurring, and fix them before they affect downstream systems.
  • Advise on decisions, help shape policy and take ownership of operational effectiveness.
  • Where you lead a team, set objectives, coach people, review performance against those objectives and decide reward outcomes on complex work that affects the whole function.
  • Advise people leaders on escalated complex issues.
  • Find ways to reduce risk, write new policies and procedures for control and governance, and take ownership of risk and controls in your work.
  • Work with other areas and business-aligned teams to stay current on business activity and strategy.
  • Analyse complex data from internal and external sources, including how other teams and companies handle similar problems, to solve issues creatively.
  • Explain complex or sensitive information clearly to audiences who find it hard to follow, and persuade stakeholders to reach outcomes.
  • As an individual contributor, lead collaborative assignments, bring in other specialisms where needed, and propose new directions for projects using cross-functional methods.

Requirements

  • Experience with SQL and database querying, scripting in Unix or Windows, and AWS.
  • Experience with data flows, interfaces and system dependencies, including batch jobs, scheduling and Autosys.
  • Experience in reference data management, including client data and onboarding, instrument or static data, and how data errors affect the trade lifecycle.
  • Risk, control and governance awareness is highly valued.
  • An automation and efficiency mindset is highly valued.
  • You may be assessed on critical skills such as risk and controls, communication, working with a wide range of stakeholders, and job-specific technical skills.
