Product Manager, Core Models & Platform

Description

The company is an early-stage AI lab building frontier multimodal AI models. It was founded by former DeepMind researchers, including Andrew Dai, who previously led work on Gemini.

The team has 20 scientists and engineers. It raised $55M in seed funding from Striker Ventures, Menlo Ventures, Altimeter Capital and NVIDIA, and it is working on hard AI problems while growing quickly.

This founding PM role is based in the Palo Alto office. You will guide the product across the whole model lifecycle, from early training priorities through production launch to later refinement.

Responsibilities

• Own the product and business roadmap from start to finish.
• Improve the current public API while planning the release strategy and developer experience for the next frontier foundation models.
• Weigh high-stakes bets and decide how to split effort between a broad developer platform and high-impact vertical applications.
• Set product priorities for pre-training and fine-tuning, and drive alignment, evaluation and fast iterative releases.
• Act as the main link between commercial teams, research scientists and core infrastructure engineers.
• Turn new multimodal research into intuitive, scalable developer building blocks and production features.
• Match engineering sprints and compute to enterprise demand and adoption signals.
• Work with GTM leadership to collect user pain points, workflow bottlenecks and feedback from early design partners.
• Turn early market signals into high-converting features, tiered enterprise offerings and sustainable revenue models.
• Join key customer calls to find new use cases, build prototypes and create repeatable enterprise playbooks.
• Shape the full developer journey beyond the API.
• Work with research to build automated data flywheels and closed feedback loops that turn edge cases and real usage into benchmark gains.
• Make first-principles tradeoffs among model intelligence, inference latency, serving cost and safety.

Requirements

• 5+ years of product management experience, including owning ML products or model development from concept to launch.
• Experience as a sole or founding PM, working through ambiguity, setting up early product workflows and executing directly with scientists and engineers.
• Hands-on experience with model evaluation design, benchmark creation, data flywheels and performance metrics.
• Ability to prioritize quickly and soundly across model quality, speed, compute cost and safety without relying on existing playbooks.
• Ability to earn trust with research and engineering teams and turn complex model capabilities into clear priorities and workable roadmaps.
• Background in multimodal models, frontier AI research, generative architectures or large foundation model development.
• Experience as a founding PM, founding team member or early employee at a fast-growing startup, or as lead PM on a 0-to-1 team.
• Experience building APIs, SDKs, model serving infrastructure or developer platforms.
• Preferred: Python and SQL.

Conditions

Full-time.

Salary of $250k to $400k.

Based in the Palo Alto office.
