Principle Engineer

We are hiring a Principle Engineer to work as a software engineer on technically demanding work, building, testing and shipping working software across the whole system lifecycle.

Hybrid working: you split your time between home and the London or Bristol office, attending the office at least twice a week.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain secure, robust, high-performing solutions that put customers first, including complex software, scripts and tools.
• Work in a feature team and liaise with engineers, architects and business analysts across the platform.
• Deliver complex, critical software quickly and to a high standard, so it adds clear value to the business.
• Join permanent teams that own each system from first build through enhancement and upkeep to replacement or retirement.
• Help improve the team's software engineering capability through collaboration.
• Design, write, test and deploy working code, covering requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment and operations.
• Write hands-on Avaloq customisation and development yourself, working alongside the wider project team rather than only designing or overseeing the work.

Requirements

• Strong background in software engineering, design and architecture, with the seniority to own a complex workstream end to end and set the engineering bar for others.
• Hands-on experience scripting and parameterising Avaloq, including Report Writer, Workflows (WFC/WFA), Order Validations, Migration Scripts, Interface Definitions and related modules.
• Deep experience with the Avaloq securities-trading (STEX) component and the securities trade lifecycle in a Core Banking or Wealth Management setting, supporting investment dealing within a major migration programme.
• Hands-on expertise in Avaloq STEX, the order lifecycle, business-unit setup and order piping, covering nostro or vostro containers, SWIFT messaging and delivery rules, and pooling and placement.
• Experience across the full trade lifecycle: order generation, pooling, placement, execution through an OMS, settlement and reconciliation, with awareness of MiFID II and EMIR transaction reporting and best execution.
• A track record of leading delivery and owning a workstream independently, coordinating with testers, business users and architects, mentoring engineers and supporting systems after go-live.
• Desirable: warehousing or bulk-rebalance trading, OMGEO, CTM settlement matching and T+1, FIX connectivity, corporate actions, FX, fund dealing and the Avaloq integration spine.

Conditions

Working hours are 35 per week.

Hybrid working, with at least two days a week in the London or Bristol office.
