Principal Systems Architect – NFC Mobile Systems (m/f/d)

Description

You will set the technical direction, architecture and delivery approach for NFC-based mobile platforms and services.

You are the technical lead for NFC work across the ecosystem, shaping architecture direction while supporting customers and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Design architectures tailored to each customer for NFC-enabled mobile devices and connected ecosystems, and specify what future solutions need.
• Lead development of contactless payment, public transport access and digital ID solutions for smartphones, wearables and IoT devices.
• Take part in technical work with strategic customers and ecosystem partners.
• Guide customer design-in across hardware, firmware, software, RF and system integration.
• Make sure designs meet NFC Forum, EMVCo, GlobalPlatform and ISO/IEC standards.
• Advise the hardware, RF, firmware, software, security and validation teams on architecture.
• Own technical decisions, run architecture reviews and resolve system-level problems.

Requirements

• 8+ years in system architecture, embedded systems, semiconductor products, wireless technology or mobile platforms.
• Experience with both hardware and software architecture.
• Solid grasp of short-range wireless systems.
• Knowledge of embedded software and firmware architecture.
• Proven record supporting strategic customers and product rollouts.
• History of taking complex architectures from concept to production release.
• Working knowledge of NFC Forum, EMVCo, GlobalPlatform, ISO/IEC 14443, ISO/IEC 18092 and ISO/IEC 15693 standards and compliance.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Organised, well-documented way of working and a methodical approach to problem solving.
• Experience with requirements management and verification and validation processes.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Security tasks may or will be part of the role, and the work may fall under security certifications, so you need a careful and dependable way of working.
• Preferred: experience with NFC technologies and protocols, mobile device and wearable architectures, and secure transaction architectures.

For the Gratkorn location, pay is competitive against electronics and semiconductor industry benchmarks.

Under the Austrian Equal Treatment Act, the full-time position is graded in Employment Group IV after 2 years under the Kollektivvertrag für Angestellte Gewerbe und Handwerk und in der Dienstleistung.
