Description

The company offers payments, data and financial products together in one platform, used by large businesses worldwide.

You would lead an Android or iOS team in Channels, which sits within the Payment Engineering organization.

The team builds and runs the low-level integration layers behind in-store payment methods, including payment kernels, and keeps them compliant with global PCI standards.

The work underpins secure, reliable payments for retailers around the world as the company grows globally.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers at every level, handling daily operations, planning and hiring for the Amsterdam office.
  • Set individual and team goals that support the engineering strategy, and build a collaborative setting where feedback and open communication are normal.
  • Coach engineers in areas such as engineering best practices, scalable architecture and product roadmap discussions, so they grow through your support.
  • Work closely with design, product, data and engineering colleagues, plus other key stakeholders across Payments.
  • Guide the design and rollout of new services, with reliability, infrastructure, data and development concerns built in from the start.
  • Drive technical decisions that are optimized globally and centered on automation, and work with other leads to evolve how payments are processed in store.

Requirements

  • You have led engineering teams and bring 7+ years of software development experience in Mobile (Android and iOS) and/or IoT, mostly in a fast-paced tech environment, plus 2+ years in a people management role.
  • You have led mobile strategy, shaped technical direction, and improved reliability and performance, with solutions that are scalable, maintainable and automated.
  • Although this is a management role, you are comfortable in technical discussions, can guide your team to sound decisions, and can work with other development teams to diagnose and fix problems when needed.
  • The team codes primarily in Android, iOS or Kotlin, and you have significant experience in at least one of these languages.
  • The team owns in-store payment method integrations, so knowledge of payment kernels, PCI, P2PE and PCI PIN is needed. Experience with these protocols is a significant benefit, though a strong technical mind that quickly learns low-level technologies would also be considered.

Conditions

The role is based at the Amsterdam office.
