Description

The company has spent more than 25 years in computer graphics, PC gaming and accelerated computing, building on a track record of innovation driven by strong technology and capable people.

The DGX Cloud team needs a Principal Software Engineer to design the core systems behind the company's high-performance GPU infrastructure. The work covers scalable automation, linking different systems together and keeping workflows running smoothly across cloud operations worldwide.

As a Principal Engineer on DGX Cloud, you will hold the top technical leadership role and build the platform that supports the company's AI and cloud computing direction.

Duties include leading the build of the next generation of APIs, state management and workflow orchestration for automating fleet lifecycle operations at very large scale.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of next-generation APIs, state management and workflow orchestration that automate fleet lifecycle operations at large scale.
  • Align technical direction with dependent systems and partner teams so integrations are coherent, interfaces are clear and end-to-end workflows are dependable, with delivery as a priority.
  • Coach, mentor and encourage senior engineers, raising technical standards and guidelines across the organization.
  • Keep the customer experience and product requirements in focus, turning detailed technical insight into solutions with real business impact.
  • Work with executive and engineering leadership to turn critical business processes into self-measuring, scalable and consistently operated platforms that greatly reduce manual toil.
  • Set the integration strategy for key technologies, including common AI schedulers such as Kubernetes and Slurm, and observability systems such as Prometheus, OpenTelemetry and Grafana.

Requirements

  • 16+ years of progressive industry experience.
  • A master's or bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience designing and shipping complex distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience establishing, operating and scaling services in a fast-moving, high-reliability environment.
  • Comfort with ambiguity: you test ideas quickly, iterate toward working solutions, then harden the best ones into reliable, scalable systems.
  • Excellent skill in modern systems languages such as Go, Java or Python.
  • A proven record of defining, owning and evolving the architecture of high-scale distributed systems, including advanced patterns for APIs, control planes and data pipelines.
  • Deep understanding of global cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container ecosystems (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • A demonstrated ability to drive technical strategy and influence outcomes across organizational boundaries.
  • Strong skill at explaining complex technical concepts, building organizational consensus and mentoring high-performing engineers.
  • Nice to have: experience leading the development and adoption of organization-wide workflow orchestration systems for petabyte-scale infrastructure.
  • Nice to have: experience at Principal or Staff+ level, delivering measurable gains in operational efficiency, reliability and security across a large engineering organization.
  • Nice to have: working familiarity with the operational and deployment side of the company AI/ML software stack (CUDA, cuDNN, containerization).
  • Nice to have: patents or a strong publication record in distributed systems, cloud computing or infrastructure automation.
