Description

The company is a technology firm that serves the US federal government, with 13,000+ people supporting clients in defense, national security, public safety, civilian agencies, and military health.

It is part of the wider global Accenture group. This role leads the planning, design, and build of large-scale global networks, covering on-premise, hybrid, and air-gapped environments for the Department of Defense (DoD).

Responsibilities

  • Set the direction for secure, resilient, and scalable global networks, from planning through to build.
  • Design and run complex architectures for DoD air-gapped sites, including transport security and KG encryption devices.
  • Build highly available, redundant designs using routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF so critical systems stay up.
  • Lead the design and rollout of secure, robust, low-latency hybrid cloud connectivity using services such as AWS Direct Connect and Azure ExpressRoute.
  • Specify on-premise datacenter needs, covering rack hardware, power, and cooling.
  • Work with security, cloud, and application teams to deliver end-to-end security and smooth integration across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
  • Write and maintain detailed documentation on architecture, standards, device configurations, and operating procedures.
  • Take the most complex network escalations, troubleshooting and resolving them at expert level.
  • Coach engineers and guide technical practice across the organization on advanced networking and datacenter best practice.

Requirements

  • Hold and maintain the required DoD 8140 certifications.
  • Have 10 years of senior-level network engineering and architecture experience in the areas below.
  • Plan and architect large global networks, with deep knowledge of advanced routing, especially BGP.
  • Know datacenter design at expert level, including layout of racks, power (PDU) planning, and cooling.
  • Have a proven record of designing redundant, high-availability networks with advanced routing and switching.
  • Have deep hybrid cloud networking skills, particularly AWS Direct Connect or equivalent services from other providers.
  • Have a strong background designing and managing DoD air-gapped networks and their security limits.
  • Have extensive hands-on experience integrating KG encryption devices such as the KG-175 TACLANE series.
  • Preferred: advanced networking certifications such as Cisco CCIE (Data Center or Enterprise Infrastructure) or Juniper JNCIE.
  • Preferred: experience automating networks with tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
  • Preferred: knowledge of software-defined networking (SDN).
  • Preferred: familiarity with multiple public clouds, including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Preferred: proficiency with network monitoring, analysis, and performance tuning tools.
