Description

This full-time role is based at Whiteman AFB in Missouri and provides on-site low observable technical expertise for the company's aeronautics systems work.

You will also act as the link between the government engineering authority at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma and the company's engineering teams.

The company builds aircraft and systems that have shaped aviation history, from early transatlantic flight to stealth bombers and the moon landing.

Responsibilities

  • Work effectively in a high-tempo military operations setting.
  • Research Air Force technical data and past engineering support requests to find technical problems, then recommend fixes that feed repair disposition and technical data updates.
  • Record maintenance activity and gather data to spot failure trends, then suggest ways to cut aircraft downtime, improve maintenance practices, and guide LO and structures maintenance tasks.
  • Apply radio frequency diagnostic and verification methods used to maintain LO aircraft.
  • Support technical and logistics work and report status regularly to the customer and the program management team.
  • Help the customer resolve complex maintenance discrepancies and anomalies, drawing on deep technical knowledge.
  • Advise on the operation of aircraft ground support equipment and the tools used in maintenance tasks.
  • Build working knowledge of structures and aircraft systems to support the customer across several engineering disciplines.
  • Make sure support and maintenance follow governing regulatory documents, covering tool control, quality, safety and aircraft maintenance documentation.
  • Support program technical interchange meetings and help develop program plans on problem analysis, aircraft upgrades, engineering dispositions and relevant company technical studies.
  • Work regularly with aircraft maintainers at every level to clear maintenance issues that would otherwise ground aircraft.
  • Analyze LO data to identify component and system performance trends and defects, and contribute to root cause analysis.
  • Join process teams and ad hoc groups to write or revise technical data, repair timelines and similar documents.

Requirements

  • Either a bachelor's degree in science with 5 years, or a master's degree with 3 years, or a PhD with 1 year, of experience in low observables, aircraft survivability, aircraft maintenance, military service or related work.
  • Proven experience with LO materials and processes, including applying, evaluating and inspecting materials used in survivability and signature control.
  • Solid grasp of how material properties and behavior affect electromagnetic performance and signature management.
  • Strong understanding of hourly post-operation (HPO) inspections and assessments tied to survivability, including finding, documenting and dispositioning LO and survivability discrepancies.
  • Working knowledge of applicable military specifications, standards and test requirements, with experience dealing with military customers on survivability, LO and related compliance topics.
  • Good understanding of survivability principles, including susceptibility, vulnerability, and building LO features into air vehicle designs and operations.
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret SCI security clearance, and the ability to obtain a Special Access Program clearance.
  • Preferred: expertise in LO technical data, such as Air Force T.O.s and company engineering and process specifications.
  • Preferred: expertise in LO materials.

Conditions

Clearance required to start.

Relocation assistance may be available.

Travel of up to 25% of the time, on CONUS and OCONUS deployments of varying length; you must be willing to accompany the customer.

Primary level base salary range is $77,000.00 to $115,600.00, a general guideline; the actual offer depends on scope and responsibilities, plus experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

The application period is estimated at 20 days from the posting date, and may be shortened or extended based on business needs and candidate availability.
