  • Debugging Java and Linux systems with IDE debuggers, jstack, jmap, strace, gdb and log-based debugging.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • An active U.S. Government Secret clearance, current and within scope, at the time you apply.
  • Either 5 years of experience with a bachelor's degree in a STEM field, or 3 years with a master's degree in a STEM field. Without a degree, 4 additional years of experience are required.
  • Preferred: experience with cloud-native or on-premise distributed systems.
  • Preferred: designing and implementing microservice architectures.
  • Preferred: message-based or streaming systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Preferred: API gateways and service discovery mechanisms.
  • Preferred: infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible, Terraform or Helm.
  • Preferred: monitoring, logging and observability for containerized applications, for example Prometheus, Grafana or an ELK/EFK stack.
  • Preferred: root-cause analysis in distributed systems using logs, traces and metrics.
  • Preferred: profiling and tuning Java applications with tools such as VisualVM, JFR, JMC or async profilers.
  • Preferred: logging and error-handling strategies that support production debugging.
  • Preferred: secure coding practices and a basic grasp of cybersecurity principles.
  • Preferred: Agile or Scrum development methods.
  • Preferred: integrating with C/C++ or other languages in mixed-technology systems.
  • Preferred: real-time or mission-critical work, such as radar, command and control, or other defense applications.
  • Preferred: DevSecOps practices and automated security scanning in CI/CD, such as SAST or DAST tools.
