Principal Engineer – AI-Enabled Embedded Software / GenAI Orchestration (f/m/d)

Description

The company is looking for a principal-level engineer who also works as an AI architect to lead the shift toward AI-supported embedded software development.

The role centres on designing and building multi-model generative AI and agentic AI systems that cover the full automotive software lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Set the architecture for platforms that support AI-assisted embedded engineering.
• Plan how LLMs, AI agents and engineering tools work together.
• Bring AI into requirements, architecture, coding, testing, validation and documentation work.
• Build agents that generate code, run tests, review changes, find root causes and automate workflows.
• Connect AI workflows to Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket and CI/CD pipelines.
• Apply AI to embedded, real-time and safety-critical automotive software.
• Make sure AI systems are secure, scalable, traceable and governed.
• Help teams work within ASPICE, MISRA, ISO 26262 and ISO/SAE 21434 processes.
• Lead technically and encourage teams across the company to adopt AI-supported engineering methods.

Requirements

• A university degree in electrical engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence or a closely related technical field.
• Multiple years of work in a relevant industry role.
• Solid hands-on work with generative AI, LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering and agentic AI.
• Practical use of orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, AutoGen or CrewAI.
• Strong skills in Python and C/C++.
• Prior work designing AI platforms and automation with CI/CD pipelines.
• Working knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket and Azure and/or AWS.
• Deep familiarity with embedded software, RTOS and automotive software development.
• Optional: knowledge of ASPICE, MISRA, ISO 26262 and ISO/SAE 21434 is highly desirable.
