Principal Engineer, CAD

Description

The company makes MEMS-based timing devices, which it positions as a more accurate, smaller and sturdier alternative to quartz. These products are used in more than 400 applications, including AI datacenters, automated driving, industrial and humanoid robots, wearables and IoT.

The company has shipped over 4 billion devices. This role supports CAD tools for digital, analog and mixed-signal design, and the team works across several engineering sites.

The role also involves testing new EDA software releases before they reach IC designers, and working directly with EDA vendors.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of custom CAD flows: build, install, configure, maintain and upgrade tools across Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens and Keysight
• Install, validate, customize and maintain PDKs and manage their releases, keeping them aligned with the foundry and current versions ready to use
• Run tapeout flows end to end, including submitting designs to foundries while meeting their requirements, schedules and quality standards
• Support schematic capture, analog and mixed-signal simulation, and layout and layout verification workflows under revision control
• Support and maintain digital simulation and verification environments and digital place-and-route tools
• Build and maintain CAD utilities, automation scripts and regression flows that make design work more efficient and consistent
• Evaluate, benchmark and deploy new tools
• Give CAD software and Linux support to CMOS design engineers and IC layout designers
• Write and update user documentation, best practices and training material for design teams at all sites
• Diagnose and resolve reported problems promptly, and check fixes for regressions
• Work directly with EDA vendor application and support teams to resolve issues and push for product improvements
• Take on other CAD-related initiatives and projects as assigned

Requirements

• A BA or BS in electrical engineering, computer science or a related field
• At least 7 years of experience supporting CAD for analog and digital CMOS IC new product development using EDA tools
• Hands-on experience supporting Cadence Virtuoso Schematic Editor and Layout Suite, Spectre, Spectre-RF, Multi-Mode Simulator, Physical Layout tools, Assura, PVS, Pegasus, Innovus and Tempus
• Hands-on experience supporting Siemens Analog FastSPICE, Questa, Calibre PVS and XRC
• Hands-on experience supporting Synopsys Design Compiler, VCS, SpyGlass and other tools
• Working knowledge of DFII SKILL, PERL, MATLAB, Tcl/Tk, C, C++ and Python
• Proficiency with Linux OS, its utilities and scripting
• Desired characteristics: strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, a proactive approach to continuous improvement, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced team
• Required: excellent written and verbal communication skills, and English proficiency sufficient to collaborate and work in a professional business setting

Conditions

Base salary range is $160,920 to $230,140 USD

The role is eligible for a quarterly bonus linked to achieving innovation goals
