Description

The company's Competence Center Crypto & Security works on end-to-end security, from early innovation and architecture through to products in the field.

You will join an international team that builds secure cryptographic libraries hardened against physical and logical attacks.

These libraries are used across NXP's payment, identification, mobile, IoT, automotive and edge processing business lines, so you can widen your technical knowledge across all of them.

Responsibilities

  • Specify and implement modern cryptographic algorithms, including post-quantum cryptography, across platforms, and build secure software from functional requirements.
  • Design and specify software countermeasures against physical attacks such as side-channel analysis (SCA) and fault injection (FI).
  • Work with security architects and internal evaluation teams to strengthen those software countermeasures.
  • Lead technical direction for cryptographic domains, guide how the domains evolve, shape architecture decisions and support project planning.
  • Work with OS and firmware teams to integrate the cryptographic software cleanly and securely into the final product.
  • Work closely with the group's test and platform support engineers to keep product quality as high as possible.
  • Drive product certification work and support security evaluations.

Requirements

  • A BSc, MSc or PhD in mathematics, cryptography, computer science, electrical or electronic engineering, information technology or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience in cryptography and embedded security, or an equivalent mix of an advanced degree and relevant experience.
  • A solid grasp of cryptographic primitives such as ECC, RSA, AES and SHA-2/SHA-3, and experience implementing them.
  • Solid embedded software development experience in C and Assembly, plus good knowledge of microcontroller architectures such as ARM Cortex-M or RISC-V.
  • Knowledge of hardware and software countermeasures against side-channel and fault-injection attacks.
  • Post-Quantum Cryptography experience is a plus.
  • Rust experience is a plus.
  • Strong debugging and analysis skills.
  • You are a proactive team player who takes ownership and has a proven record of delivering results.

Conditions

This is a full-time position in Gratkorn, Austria.

The position is graded in Employment Group IV of the Austrian collective bargaining agreement for white-collar workers in trade, crafts and services, as required by the Austrian Equal Treatment Act.

The role may or will involve security-related tasks, and some work falls within the scope of security certifications, so a careful and reliable way of working is required.

Your individual experience and expectations will be taken into account during the application process.

Benefits

  • Work on state-of-the-art cryptographic software covering both traditional and post-quantum cryptography, on ARM Cortex-M and RISC-V platforms.
  • Develop new countermeasures against side-channel analysis (SCA) and fault injection (FI) attacks.
  • Set the technical direction for cryptographic software, influence architecture decisions and lead technical discussions across several teams.
  • Work alongside leading security experts in architecture, evaluation, firmware and certification.
  • Help build solutions that protect applications in automotive, payment, identification, mobile, industrial and IoT markets.
  • Compensation is market competitive, benchmarked against the electronics and semiconductor industry.
  • Benefits include home office, flexible working hours and meal benefits.
