Description

The company calls itself the first frontier AI lab for healthcare and builds AI that handles complex clinical workflows and gives clinicians clinical intelligence tools.

The team is frontend-leaning and works with Platform Engineering and customer-facing teams to build accessible, fast user experiences for real-time AI workflows in enterprise healthcare.

The product is deployed across hundreds of VA sites and serves tens of thousands of clinicians, with a growing commercial customer base and impact supported by peer-reviewed research.

The role suits engineers who have worked on small, high-impact teams and taken features from start to finish with real ownership and autonomy.

Stack: React, TypeScript, Node.js, and Python (Lambda) on AWS, including GovCloud environments, with AI-enabled application platforms, CI/CD pipelines, containerized services, and Amplitude and Sentry for observability and analytics.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and extend core Clinical Intelligence features such as AI assistants, patient context, patient search, trial and drug eligibility, and new workflows.
• Build and scale client-side features that integrate with the EHR.
• Maintain complex audio-centric workflows.
• Build user interfaces that are accessible, intuitive, and fast.
• Build secure, fast APIs and the supporting infrastructure for web and mobile apps.
• Work closely with engineering, product, and customer delivery teams to set priorities for bug fixes, improvements, and new features.
• Contribute substantively to technical discussions, design reviews, and code reviews.
• Improve system reliability, observability, and performance.
• Take on engineering escalations from customer-facing teams, including issues outside your usual area.

Requirements

• You have 5+ years of experience building production web applications.
• You are strongly proficient in TypeScript.
• You have built applications with React and Node.js.
• You have designed and built RESTful APIs.
• You have worked with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• You understand distributed systems and scalability.
• You debug well, communicate clearly, and solve problems effectively.
• You have significant experience using agentic coding tools across the software development lifecycle.
• Preferred: experience in healthcare technology or regulated environments.
• Preferred: experience building real-time or highly interactive web applications.
• Preferred: familiarity with AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, S3, RDS, and DynamoDB.
• Open only to US citizens or visa holders.

Conditions

Based in San Francisco, CA, with 3 days a week in the office.

Full-time individual contributor role.
