Description

The company is a global provider of wealth management, asset servicing, asset management and banking services, and it is publicly listed on Nasdaq. It works with wealthy individuals, families, corporations and institutions around the world.

Founded in 1889, the company is guided by three principles: service, expertise and integrity. It has more than 135 years of financial experience and over 24,000 staff, whom it calls partners.

This is a Principal Product Designer role leading strategic design on the company's flagship client-facing wealth management platform.

You will be a key member of the design team reshaping how wealth management clients engage with advice and financial services, with the aim of building client trust and a premium, polished digital experience.

You will work with cross-functional product teams, applying human-centered design methods to deliver high-quality financial services and seamless experiences for high-net-worth clients and their advisors through agile delivery.

Partners work in a flexible, collaborative culture backed by strong financial stability. Moving across the organization is encouraged, senior leaders are accessible, and employees around the world give their time and talent to community causes, with philanthropy central to the company's history and culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, maturity and upkeep of the product design system, including Storybook components and the Figma library used by design and agile teams.
  • Keep design assets, components and experience standards current as digital products and services keep changing.
  • Make reusable, production-ready components, templates, patterns and page frameworks available so products ship faster.
  • Standardize interaction and visual patterns so advisor, client, prospect and operations experiences feel consistent.
  • Keep Storybook aligned with the future-state experience vision, product roadmaps and implementation.
  • Reduce design and technical debt left by delivery compromises made to meet near-term roadmap commitments.
  • Cut duplicate component work and fragmented experience patterns across business domains.
  • Build extensible component architectures that can support new products, channels and business capabilities.
  • Improve component documentation, implementation guidance, governance and code reuse.
  • Extend integration with the enterprise design system so platforms, business domains and delivery teams stay consistent.
  • Systematically close accessibility gaps and align digital experiences with evolving accessibility standards and best practices.
  • Own complex design initiatives as the subject matter expert, working with leadership to shape, communicate and deliver design vision and strategy across teams and business units.
  • Guide less experienced colleagues and run point on specific design activities.
  • Foster an open culture of optimism, experimentation, curiosity and rapid prototyping.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams toward a shared purpose of designing for user needs.
  • Prototype at whatever fidelity fits the question, learning through trial and experimentation.
  • Synthesize multiple, sometimes conflicting inputs into a clear point of view.
  • Design user interfaces and information architecture using human-centered methods such as observational studies, client and partner interviews and usability testing.
  • Identify talent and build teams by considering how different people and skills will work together to create real impact.
  • Bring in outside ideas, tools and approaches, and connect with corporate innovation initiatives and the wider design community.

Requirements

  • Twelve or more years is not the wording here: you need 12+ years of proven experience delivering digital experiences.
  • A design education or related field, gained formally or through comparable training.
  • A portfolio of professional work that shows design thinking and UI/UX best practice.
  • Experience on cross-functional teams or large-scale software development lifecycles, ideally in agile environments.
  • Ability to apply human-centered design and UI/UX best practices in a professional setting.
  • Ability to anticipate use cases and user interactions and build them into designs.
  • Deep expertise in a range of design methods, which may include low-fidelity sketching, information architecture, wireframe development, usability testing, research planning and competitive analysis.
  • Strong presentation and storytelling skills to lead teams toward a common vision.
  • Comfort with change and ambiguity.
  • Skill with collaboration and communication tools, presenting work and decisions clearly within the EDR team.
  • A clear growth mindset, seeking learning opportunities and tackling challenges proactively.
