Principal Data Engineer, AI Enablement

Description

The company is building data solutions that support its AI and machine learning use cases, and this principal role sits at the centre of that work.

You will design, build, and maintain these data solutions alongside data engineers, data scientists, architects, and business analysts, moving core data capabilities forward and delivering projects.

Responsibilities

• Work with a cross-functional group of engineers, architects, data scientists, business system analysts, and product owners to gather requirements and build solutions that fit the purpose.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable, AI-ready data solutions across varied data sets that serve the pharma value chain.
• Build and maintain solutions that integrate LLMs such as GPT, Claude, or similar technologies for data mining, knowledge extraction, and automating data-driven insights.
• Build and maintain systems that put machine learning models into production, covering deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
• Turn user requirements into expressive data models that support graph analytics, semantic reasoning, and GenAI integration.
• Evaluate and recommend tools, frameworks, and platforms for graph databases, vector stores, and LLM integration, including agent-based solutions.
• Lead technically and act as the subject matter expert, advising partners on whether emerging AI data technologies are feasible and what impact they would have.
• Make sure work follows the company's software development lifecycle policies and procedures.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience, a master's degree with 7 years of experience, or a PhD with 3 years of related work experience and a strong grasp of the functional area.
• You must have hands-on experience with MLOps, LLM integration, data agents, agentic memory, Graph RAG systems, text mining, and unstructured data processing.
• You have designed and built data pipelines, ETL or ELT processes, and data models.
• You are proficient in Python, SQL, and distributed data processing frameworks such as Spark.
• You have worked with CI/CD practices, data quality controls, governance, and security.
• A degree in computer science or a related field is preferred, and an advanced degree is a further plus.
• Experience with Neo4j and Elasticsearch is preferred.
• AWS experience is preferred.

Conditions

The base pay range is the range the company in good faith expects to pay for this grade at the time of posting. Actual pay depends on factors such as location and may fall above or below the range, and the range may change.

Eligible for the company's long-term incentive programs.

Any bonus, commission, incentive, benefit, or other compensation remains at the company's sole and absolute discretion until paid and may change in line with applicable law. Nothing counts as earned pay until it is earned, vested, and determinable.
