Description

You will lead the design of the backbone communications infrastructure for a theme park resort, covering attractions, back-of-house spaces and front-of-house areas that are not attractions.

Your role oversees contracted vendors who design, install, test and document the connected systems.

The team also plans the data center and other critical environments so they meet current and future needs.

The scope includes ride and show cabling, audio visual and lighting links, campus security links for building management, cameras and fire alarms, and wired and wireless networks with their security.

The company makes film, television and streaming content and runs theme park destinations worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect vendor work and act as the link between engineering, technical services, audio visual and the other infrastructure groups, so the result can be supported and maintained.
  • Run acceptance testing and verify certification for each connected system against its governing standards.
  • Prepare construction plans for refurbishments and new builds using the infrastructure group's standards, Creative Ops requirements and local building code.
  • Keep scheduling and budget inputs current through every project phase.
  • Work with vendors and partners to lower costs through better unit prices, bulk buying or simpler methods.
  • Build working relationships across the organisation and improve business processes to keep availability high using proven technology.
  • Partner with other divisions to review designs for security, growth, safety, redundancy, reliability and sustainability, and give each the right weight in the design goals.
  • Follow environmental, health and safety policy, procedures and training, and take part in related team activities.
  • Take on other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience (preferred).
  • Technical leadership in infrastructure or data center operations.
  • Solid knowledge of telecom and structured cabling design standards and systems.
  • Experience managing mid-to-large facility design and build-outs, ideally on campus sites or at corporate headquarters and branch locations.
  • Experience designing cable management and fibre distribution standards and systems.
  • Experience installing equipment to electrical codes and grounding rules, with utilisation projections, spikes and ranges.
  • Experience planning and installing racks, cable management, copper and fibre optic cabling in data centers and other critical environments.
  • Proven ability to lead, and to work alone or within a larger infrastructure team.
  • Working knowledge of compute and networking devices and how they are deployed.
  • Strong knowledge of MEP standards and operations, including BTU calculations and heat load projections.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills, with close attention to detail.
  • Good grasp of industry standards and a track record of building strategic infrastructure for enterprise users.
  • Understanding of earthing and grounding principles, and the ability to test and verify earthing.
  • Clear professional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional project management skills.
  • Advanced MS Office skills, including PowerPoint and Visio, plus Bluebeam and AutoCAD.
