Network Engineer - Platform Integrations EMEA

  • Hybrid

Salary

€51,000 - 69,000/ year

Description

You will join the Platform Integrations EMEA team as a Network Engineer, helping to build and run direct integrations with payment systems and partners across the region.

The team sits within the Platform tribe, which designs and operates the core direct integration infrastructure behind a product that moves billions of dollars every month. The EMEA team leads direct integrations in the region and also supports integrations worldwide.

The company is a global technology company building a new network for the world's money, helping people and businesses send, spend and receive money internationally.

The role includes a modern, cloud-heavy environment where remote connectivity is common. You choose your own direction, shape a vision with your team, and get feedback from colleagues across the company while keeping the freedom to make your own decisions. Expect little micromanagement and room to grow by understanding the business problems you solve.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain integrations between the company and complex financial systems.
  • Design scalable, repeatable architecture that meets complex regulatory requirements.
  • Review infrastructure to find inefficiencies and problems, then build automation and optimisations to fix them.
  • Work with the wider platform engineering team and product engineers on projects with global impact.
  • Talk with stakeholders across the company, plan roadmaps with your team, and work through challenges to set scope and deliver realistic timelines.
  • Partner with leads and engineers to shape current technology implementations, and champion high standards with third parties.

Requirements

  • Everything in this section is desirable rather than required.
  • Solid grasp of networking basics and experience supporting complex deployments, including TCP/IP, routing and switching, load balancing and ECMP, firewalls, IPSec, GRE, security policies, network ACLs and BGP routing.
  • Experience with SRE and network automation using infrastructure as code, Python, Ansible, NETCONF, CI/CD and telemetry.
  • JNCIS or CCNP level knowledge is ideal, along with Linux networking for non-trivial work such as routing protocols and IPSec tunnels. Candidates who are working towards this level are welcome.
  • Hands-on cloud networking experience, ideally with AWS: VPCs, transit gateways, Direct Connect and VPC peering.
  • Experience writing and documenting network designs.
  • Ability to turn business requirements into technical solutions that internal and external stakeholders can follow.
  • Experience leading technical projects or a small team of engineers is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with the team's technologies, which include AWS networking (VPC, VGW, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, VPC Peering, Cloud WAN), IPSec VPNs, Cisco, Juniper and Check Point devices (physical and cloud), L2 switching, BGP, ISP peering, data centre integrations, cross-connects, Terraform, Ansible, NETCONF, Python, Java microservices on Kubernetes, and Git with GitHub. The list is not exhaustive and nobody is expected to know it all.
  • Software development experience is a nice extra but not essential.
  • A self-starter who can take projects forward independently.
  • Reliability and scalability come first in your solutions.
  • Security and privacy built in by design, with attention to risk and compliance.
  • Looks for chances to make an impact and challenge the norm, and is comfortable in a flat organisation.
  • Able to influence architectural patterns with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comfortable with new challenges and building novel, tailored solutions.
  • Collaborative, and able to adjust communication for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Clear communication with cross-team stakeholders, peers and leads is essential.
