Description

The company behind the PlayStation brand is a subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation. It builds hardware and network services used by more than 100 million people and also produces entertainment built on well-known intellectual properties.

This role leads the global marketing technology group for PlayStation. The group covers engineering, product management, UX, measurement and experimentation, audience activation, and marketing data.

The leader sets the technology vision, architecture, product strategy, and roadmap for the platforms marketers use worldwide to reach hundreds of millions of players. The goal is secure, scalable, AI-enabled capabilities that make marketing more effective and faster and improve the customer experience.

The company wants a technology leader who has hands-on software or data engineering experience building marketing technology products and platforms. You will lead engineers and technical product teams, make architecture and build-versus-buy calls, and turn marketing needs into systems that last. Experience that is limited to running vendor tools or managing a marketing stack, with no direct engineering work, does not qualify for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams in marketing technology engineering, product management, and UX, setting clear goals, operating rhythms, and delivery accountability.
  • Own global marketing platforms from discovery and architecture through launch, adoption, reliability, and ongoing improvement.
  • Design the architecture for marketing platforms, APIs, data pipelines, audience services, orchestration, and activation integrations.
  • Set a multi-year marketing technology roadmap and product vision, ranked by customer value, feasibility, business impact, risk, and platform health.
  • Define engineering standards for security, privacy, reliability, observability, scalability, and technical debt.
  • Run product discovery and UX research with marketing teams around the world, turning user needs into intuitive workflows and measurable outcomes.
  • Assess build, buy, and partner options rigorously, and make sure third-party platforms fit into a coherent, maintainable architecture.
  • Lead the measurement and experimentation function, covering test design, measurement frameworks, platform capabilities, and how results feed marketing decisions.
  • Lead audience activation and marketing data teams responsible for identity, segmentation, consent-aware audience management, data quality, governance, and activation readiness.
  • Connect audience, measurement, and activation capabilities across channels so teams can plan, act, learn, and optimize on shared data and platforms.
  • Work with Data Science and Analytics leaders to build experimentation, causal measurement, predictive models, and decision support into marketing workflows.
  • Evaluate and scale AI and automation use cases that boost marketer productivity, decision quality, and customer relevance.
  • Act as the technical and strategic partner to leaders in Media, Creative, Brand Marketing, Product Marketing, Marketing Operations, Data Science, and Business Analytics.
  • Align the SIE teams that own or influence the marketing technology stack around one architecture, one product vision, one roadmap, and one set of investment priorities.
  • Lead high-priority transformation initiatives, managing execution, cross-team dependencies, adoption, and measurable business results.
  • Work with marketing leaders to redesign workflows, processes, decision rights, and operating models around new platform capabilities.
  • Balance global platform standards with local and product-level flexibility, without compromising security, privacy, or architectural integrity.
  • Define success measures and post-launch KPIs for platform performance, adoption, marketing effectiveness, and business impact.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, data engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. An advanced degree is preferred.
  • 12+ years across software or data engineering, technical product management, and marketing technology, including leading global teams.
  • Hands-on software or data engineering experience, and a track record of leading engineers who built and ran production marketing technology systems.
  • Proven experience building, launching, and running enterprise SaaS products or internal platforms, not only implementing or administering third-party tools.
  • Deep technical knowledge of cloud architecture, APIs, systems integration, data pipelines, identity and audience systems, security, privacy, reliability, and scalability.
  • Experience leading mixed organizations that include engineering, product management, UX, measurement and experimentation, analytics or data science, and audience activation.
  • Strong grasp of experimentation methods, marketing measurement, and analytics, and of using data to sharpen product and marketing decisions.
  • Experience with AI-powered products, machine learning platforms, or automation running in production.
  • Experience owning multi-year technology and product roadmaps and making investment, architecture, and build-versus-buy decisions.
  • Ability to influence senior leaders, explain technical tradeoffs clearly, and lead change across teams and regions.
  • Base pay is set using market benchmarking data and geographic location. It may vary with the hybrid working policy, and individual pay depends on job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
  • Background checks are run at the offer stage for all new hires, which may include criminal background checks for some roles, and this requires processing personal information.
  • Seattle estimated base pay range: $207,400 - $311,200 USD.
