Manager, Software Engineering

Description

The company runs an AI-powered global work platform that lets employers hire, pay, and manage staff in 185+ countries, with more than a decade of compliance experience behind it.

You will be a hands-on engineering manager leading a team in the Growth organization, a senior leadership role for someone who has managed engineers for years and also builds software day to day.

Your team will work on user acquisition, activation, and retention for customer-facing products, and will build systems with React, TypeScript, and AWS while moving the engineering process toward AI-native work with Claude Code as a standard tool.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for your team and stay involved in building, reviewing, and designing solutions with them.
• Bring AI-first habits into your team's daily work, using Claude Code and other LLM tools to speed up experiments and releases.
• Work with product and data teams to plan the technical roadmap for acquisition and retention goals, keeping the architecture modern and scalable on React, TypeScript, and AWS.
• Hire, coach, and develop capable engineers, combining direct mentorship with AI-supported professional development.
• Keep observability and stability strong, making sure experiments and features meet strict quality standards even as delivery speeds up with AI tools.
• Lead the team's in-person work in the Palo Alto office on Monday through Wednesday to build cohesion and solve cross-functional problems faster.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of formal engineering management experience leading engineers.
• Proven full-stack experience with React, TypeScript, and AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, and RDS.
• Demonstrated use of LLM-based agents, specifically Claude Code, to improve SDLC speed and code quality.
• A track record of shipping customer-facing SaaS products with a focus on growth metrics, conversion, and user experience.
• Ability to turn complex technical and AI trade-offs into clear plans for leadership and cross-functional partners.

Conditions

Work is on-site in the Palo Alto office Monday through Wednesday.
