This is a manager role in the international credit machine learning group. You will lead a team of ML engineers who build the models used for credit lending decisions in several European countries and Australia.

Your team will apply new ML methods and detailed data representations to forecast repayment behavior and improve how loans are offered to borrowers.

You will work with engineering, product, and risk leaders to design, build, and scale advanced ML systems used across the company, mentor engineers, clarify unclear problems, and help set a long-term ML strategy.

Responsibilities

• Set your team's technical direction and connect their work to high-impact projects in the underwriting system.
• Multiply the team's impact by defining and promoting technical solutions and operating processes.
• Work with product management, design, analytics, and risk through the product lifecycle to keep solutions technically sustainable and to make risks and trade-offs clear and managed.
• Grow engineers through feedback and guidance, and model good practice yourself.
• Take part in an on-call rotation, which is required for this role.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in a technical field, plus 8+ years in industry including 3+ years managing engineers.
• Background in financial services, particularly credit or lending.
• Working ML knowledge across tree-based models, transformers, deep learning, and agentic ML.
• Solid engineering skills and hands-on technical leadership in the team's code and architecture.
• Comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to move from low-level language details up to how large systems are architected.

Conditions

Base pay grade P and equity grade 6.

New hires usually start near the bottom of the pay range. Pay follows a transparent structure based on location, experience, and job-related skills.

Base pay is one part of total compensation, which may also include equity from the parent company.

ESP base pay range: €103,000 - €139,000 per year.

Visa sponsorship is available for this role, but the person must be based in Spain.

Remote-first role. Most positions can be done from almost anywhere in the country of employment, some may occasionally need in-person work at an office, and a few are office-based. All new hires are invited to an in-person onboarding.
