Description

The company offers simple, predictable ways for people to pay over time.

This role leads a team of machine learning engineers in the International Credit Machine Learning group. Your team builds the models that make credit lending decisions in several European countries and Australia.

You will guide the team in applying new ML methods and rich data representations to forecast repayment behavior and improve how loans are offered to borrowers.

You will help set the direction of machine learning across the company, working with engineering, product and risk leaders to design, build and grow advanced ML systems. You will coach engineers, bring structure to unclear problems and shape a long-term ML strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Define your team's technical strategy and connect it to high-impact projects in the underwriting system.
  • Multiply the team's impact by championing sound technical designs and day-to-day operating practices.
  • Work with product management, design, analytics and risk through the product lifecycle to keep systems sustainable and make risks and trade-offs clear and managed.
  • Grow your engineers through regular feedback and guidance, and set the standard through your own work.

Requirements

  • A technical bachelor's degree and 8+ years of industry experience, including 3+ years managing engineers.
  • Background in financial services, particularly credit and lending.
  • Working knowledge of machine learning, including tree-based models, transformers, deep learning and agentic ML.
  • Strong engineering skills, with the hands-on technical leadership to work directly in the codebase and architecture.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to move from low-level language details up to how large systems are architected.

Conditions

Remote-first role: most positions can be done from almost anywhere in the country of employment, and the majority of roles can be located anywhere in Poland.

Some positions may occasionally require in-person work at an office, and a few are office-based due to the nature of the work.

All new hires are invited to an in-person onboarding experience.

This job description is not a contract and carries no binding force.

Interview accommodations for candidates with disabilities are available, and qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records are considered for San Francisco and Los Angeles roles, as required by law.

Benefits

  • Base pay of 365,000 zł to 485,000 zł (pay grade P), set by location, experience and job-related skills; new hires typically start near the bottom of the range.
  • Equity from the parent company, the company Holdings, Inc., awarded in US dollars (equity grade 5) each year. Example: new hire equity $48,000-$72,000, annual refresh $15,000, reward equity $0-$225,000.
  • Monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, plus a flexible wallet reimbursable up to 1390 zł per month.
  • Health coverage with 100% of medical, dental and vision premiums covered for you and your dependents, including private healthcare through Lux Med's Platinum package.
  • Competitive paid time off, paid public holidays and extra paid Away Days, plus flexible time off and generous holiday calendars.
  • A MultiSport card, learning and development programs, and family healthcare through Maven with parental leave support through Parentaly.
  • Mental well-being support through Lyra: up to 12 confidential counseling or coaching sessions a year for you and your household members.
  • Financial well-being support through Northstar, with unlimited access to Certified Financial Advisors and planning tools at no cost to you.
  • Employee Resource Groups, and possible tax benefits subject to applicable law, role and company policy.
  • Employee stock purchase plan (ESPP) to buy parent company stock at a discount.
