Machine Learning Engineer - TS/SCI with Polygraph

This role is for an experienced machine learning engineer who will build and run mission AI and ML systems, including REST services, data pipelines and cloud MLOps. You will oversee the full model lifecycle, from data handling and training to deployment and monitoring, and connect AI services to enterprise applications in accredited cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and run scalable data pipelines and data lakes that enforce governance, encryption with AWS KMS, versioning, lifecycle policies, tagging and zero-trust controls.
• Manage cross-domain data transfers using AWS Data Diode or PrivateLink, and generate ongoing compliance evidence for the ATO and monitoring.
• Build, expose and scale model inference APIs (REST or GraphQL) and microservices, validate endpoints, and automate documentation such as VDDs and release notes.
• Build and operate AWS workloads on EC2, EKS, Lambda, S3, CloudWatch and SNS/SQS, plus containerized deployments with Docker and Kubernetes in Jenkins or GitHub CI/CD pipelines.
• Use Terraform, CloudFormation or Ansible to create repeatable, compliant environments, with security built in early and automated ATO evidence.
• Select, train, tune and evaluate supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning models, and apply NLP, computer vision and agentic or GenAI methods to mission problems.

Requirements

• Experience with artificial intelligence (AI), AWS Key Management Service (KMS), machine learning (ML) and REST.
• 10+ years of related experience.
• A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or a related technical field, or an equivalent mix of education, technical certifications, training or work experience.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.
• US citizenship is required.

Conditions

Full-time, 40 scheduled hours per week, onsite at a customer site in Tyson's, VA. The posting also lists Vienna, VA as a work location.

Travel is less than 10% of the time.

Likely salary range is $162,037 to $219,227. Final pay depends on experience, geographic location and possibly contract terms, and may fall outside this range.
