Senior Linux System Engineer

Description

This Senior Linux System Engineer role sits in IT Infrastructure and Operations and does not require Public Trust or any other clearance.

You will join a team that tests and supports Linux system changes before they reach the RCCs.

Responsibilities

• Design and define the architecture of new and existing computer systems.
• Review and analyze patches and updates, provide Tier III support for them, and test the baseline in the Engineering Operations Facility (EOF) before release to the RCCs.
• Write Enterprise Technical Procedures (ETPs) that explain how to apply patches, upgrades, security configurations and updates to the EOF baseline, tested against the STIGs.
• Keep Linux systems already in service compliant with baseline requirements and with changing enterprise policy, in the way Group Policy handles Windows compliance.
• Watch all integrated solutions through a central alerting system.
• Build an operating system lifecycle plan that includes DoW STIGs and other recommended security standards.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of related experience. An extra 4 years of experience can replace the degree.
• 5+ years of related experience in systems design, systems engineering, documentation and Linux.
• Current Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from ISC2.
• Current DoW IAT level III certification.
• Active Secret security clearance.
• US citizenship.
• Experience managing and administering VMware.
• Thorough experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Ubuntu or a derivative.
• Knowledge of the Windows and Linux STIGs and current DISA hardening protocols.
• Experience with systems analysis, design, integration, documentation and engineering.

Conditions

Regular position, full-time with 40 scheduled hours per week.

Fully onsite at the Fort Huachuca facility in Arizona, USA.

Travel of less than 10%.

Likely salary range is $88,130 to $117,875. This is not a guarantee, as pay depends on experience, geographic location and possibly contract terms, and may fall outside this range.
