The company is Johnson & Johnson MedTech, and this role sits in its Customer Experience Management team, within the Professional Relations & Operations domain. The work is based in Raritan, New Jersey, and the setup is hybrid.
The role is a hands-on technical lead position that turns the product roadmap for this domain into secure, scalable, supportable and reusable platform capabilities, built mainly on Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft cloud services.
The Senior Manager owns product outcomes, roadmap, prioritization, funding, adoption and value. The Senior Principal Platform Engineer owns cross-team architecture and shared standards. You apply those standards, spot gaps and deliver sound capabilities.
The job is classified as Scientific/Technology, under Technology Product & Platform Management and Functional Engineering.
Responsibilities
Turn the roadmap and business process needs into designs, technical backlogs, engineering plans and non-functional requirements.
Lead the design and build of capabilities across Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Azure, Microsoft 365 and connected enterprise services.
Define domain models, extension patterns, data flows, integration contracts, security boundaries and operational needs that align with the target architecture.
Balance quick delivery against long-term maintainability and scale.
Stay close to the code: review designs and code, troubleshoot hard problems, test assumptions and build reference implementations when needed.
Raise unclear or conflicting requirements early and resolve them with facts, without building for speculative needs.
Design and build AI-enabled and automated capabilities where they measurably improve workflow, quality or user experience.
Apply approved patterns for LLM integration, retrieval-augmented generation, agents, tool calling, context management, human oversight, evaluation and observability.
Work with enterprise AI teams on governed execution, security, privacy, monitoring, discoverability and production operations.
Use MCP, agent-to-agent or other interoperability approaches only when approved, supportable and justified.
Keep human accountability in AI capabilities and meet governance, policy, risk and compliance requirements.
Direct engineers, contractors, systems integrators and product squads building PR&O capabilities.
Lead design reviews, code and configuration reviews, backlog refinement, release readiness checks and cross-team dependency resolution.
Define and track measures for quality, reliability, security, reuse, technical debt, release performance, developer productivity and production health.
Improve delivery through automated testing, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, environment standards, observability, documentation and disciplined releases.
Coach engineers and technical leads toward accountability, constructive challenge, learning and continuous improvement.
Work with product, support and operations teams to set up release, change, incident, problem, service and lifecycle practices.
Lead technical response during major incidents, restoration, root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions.
Use production data to remove recurring defects, cut manual support, improve resilience and shape platform priorities.
Make sure documentation, monitoring, runbooks, support ownership, continuity plans and operational readiness are complete before release.
Requirements
7 or more years of software engineering experience delivering enterprise-scale products, platforms, integrations or distributed systems.
4 or more years as a lead engineer, solution architect, principal engineer or technical lead responsible for design and delivery.
Deep knowledge of Dynamics 365 architecture, configuration, extensibility, integration, data, security, release management and platform operations.
Experience with Azure, Power Platform, Microsoft 365, Teams, Outlook, Copilot and Copilot Studio integrations.
Experience designing reusable APIs, services, components, frameworks or integration patterns, not only standalone apps.
Hands-on work with Git, CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure as code, containers, Kubernetes and platform observability.
Experience building or running production AI solutions using LLM integration, agents, RAG, tool calling, context engineering, evaluation, observability, security and governance.
Experience engineering systems in a regulated, security-conscious or otherwise complex enterprise setting.
Working understanding of commercial operations, regulated workflows, data controls and using technology to simplify business processes.
Proven ability to lead engineers and delivery partners through influence, technical credibility, coaching and clear decisions.
Strong written and verbal communication, including explaining technical choices, risks and trade-offs to product, business and control stakeholders.
