Description

The company builds information processing and sense-making systems for national security, covering situational awareness, strategic planning and tactical execution.

The work sits in the Analytics and Command & Control Division, specifically the Mission Applications Group, which turns research-stage software into tools used in operations.

Mission Applications staff join scientists and engineers from other research groups in dedicated product teams that move advanced software into operational use. Their skills span product management, UX product implementation, software integration and mission engineering, platform engineering, DevOps and program management.

Responsibilities

  • Make sure delivered products meet high standards of quality, reliability and performance.
  • Break down use cases and user problems, build an MVP, and grow it quickly into a cohesive application.
  • Build fast, visually polished frontend features that handle complex use cases and stay smooth and intuitive under heavy load.
  • Lead cross-functional engineering teams to design, build and deploy a cohesive system, and fold independent capabilities into existing solutions.
  • Work with end users, typically military or government operators, to turn their requirements into software features using product discovery practices.
  • Travel to integration sites to deploy, test and triage software in secure operational environments, with customer-site travel averaging no more than one week per month.

Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance, with the ability to obtain Top Secret with SCI eligibility.
  • BS in Computer Science or a related technical field and at least 7 years of work experience. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience deploying software for DoD or IC missions.
  • Strong knowledge of modern technologies such as React, TypeScript and Python.
  • Expertise in developing and deploying software in complex, high-security environments, and in modern frameworks, full stack applications and API integration.
  • Deep understanding of the missions carried out across the Department of Defense.
  • A passion for user-centred interfaces and close attention to design detail.
  • Knowledge of performance techniques for rendering large datasets and building responsive, smooth interfaces.
  • Quick to pick up new languages, libraries and technologies.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, able to work both alone and as part of a team.
  • Able to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Even Better:
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related technical field.
  • Prior US military service, with experience in joint planning, large force battle monitoring and large force debriefs.
