Description

The company builds autonomous defence platforms and AI-driven software for NATO Allies and their partners, designed to run in demanding environments.

The team works under tight constraints such as low-bandwidth networks, air-gapped devices and time-critical decision loops, and its software is used by operators in the field.

This is a junior role focused on robotics swarming, supporting real-time cooperative autonomy on next-generation multi-UAV platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Build and integrate real-time cooperative control, decentralized routing and perception algorithms on embedded hardware such as NVIDIA Jetson devices.
  • Improve communication across multi-agent networks using ROS2 and DDS so that data reaches its destination reliably in difficult conditions.
  • Set up and maintain Software-in-the-Loop (SITL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) test environments to check swarming features before any physical flight.
  • Work with the AI, controls and hardware teams so swarming behaviours fit cleanly with the other onboard subsystems.
  • Profile and debug performance under embedded limits on compute, thermal and bandwidth, keeping multi-vehicle field deployments stable.
  • Take part in system architecture discussions, focusing on communication reliability, modularity and clean C++ code.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, computer science, aerospace or a closely related technical field.
  • Strong modern C++ (C++17/20) skills for low-latency, multi-threaded embedded and robotics work.
  • Solid hands-on ROS2 experience and a working understanding of DDS for real-time communication.
  • Experience with embedded Linux, especially NVIDIA Jetson, and with hardware interfaces.
  • Familiarity with swarming algorithms such as flocking, consensus or decentralised task allocation, ideally on physical multi-vehicle systems. This is listed as a nice-to-have.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, particularly under real-time or resource limits.
  • Clear communicator who works well in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Willing to travel occasionally for field testing and deployment.
  • Fluent English, C1 preferred. German is an advantage but not required.
  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain and keep the security clearance required for this role. Details follow during recruitment.

Conditions

Occasional travel for field testing and deployment is expected.

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain the security clearance needed for the position, owing to the defence sector work.

Equal opportunity applies to all candidates.

Benefits

  • The software you build helps protect personnel and supports European and national sovereignty.
  • You will work alongside leading specialists in autonomous systems, advanced propulsion and secure cyber platforms.
  • The environment is fast-moving and collaborative, with substantial research and development funding behind new ideas.
