IT Engineer (Active Top Secret Clearance)

The company builds satellite buses at scale, the commercial spacecraft platforms that carry customers' payloads into orbit on launch vehicles.

Demand is rising: more launch vehicles are coming online, launch costs are falling, and more payload companies are entering the market.

The company combines in-house software, vertical integration and hardware designed for manufacturing. Its spacecraft serve uses from earth observation to communications.

It is a fast-growing startup that has raised more than $500M in funding.

This is an engineering role, not help desk or support work. You will design, implement, administer and optimize the company's technology infrastructure across systems engineering, network management, cloud operations, cybersecurity and cross-functional project delivery, with a focus on architecture and infrastructure lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, administer and troubleshoot systems, servers, networks, endpoints and cloud infrastructure hands on.
• Build, configure, maintain and troubleshoot physical and virtual servers, from first deployment through ongoing operation.
• Administer and troubleshoot Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and multiple Linux distributions.
• Design, configure, maintain and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, VLANs, Wi-Fi, VPNs, routing, switching, firewalls and network policies.
• Administer and support Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Entra ID, Intune, Jira/Confluence and Slack.
• Design, deploy and manage cloud infrastructure.
• Assess options, recommend the best approach and implement fixes with minimal disruption to operations.
• Write and maintain automation and admin scripts in PowerShell, Bash and Python.
• Lead or join IT infrastructure projects and deliver them on time, accurately and to established requirements.
• Provide Tier 3 technical support and help other IT teams resolve complex infrastructure issues.
• Document configurations, troubleshooting steps, solutions and project changes.

Requirements

• Solid hands-on engineering and troubleshooting experience.
• Deep knowledge of Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and various Linux operating systems.
• Deep knowledge of server deployment, configuration, administration and troubleshooting, including building servers from scratch.
• Deep networking knowledge across LAN, WAN, VLANs, Wi-Fi, VPN, routing, switching, firewalls and network policies.
• Strong troubleshooting ability: you dig into complex issues, find root causes and develop several possible solutions.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Entra ID, Intune, Jira/Confluence and Slack.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure and AWS, including AWS GovCloud environments.
• Proficiency in PowerShell, Bash and Python scripting.
• Ability to manage several technical projects and finish assignments on time.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation and communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or a related technical field.
• 5, 7 years of progressive hands-on experience in IT engineering, systems administration, network engineering or a related technical discipline.

Conditions

Full-time, on-site in Playa Vista, Los Angeles.

Must be a US citizen and hold an active Top Secret security clearance.

The role may be filled at Senior, Staff or Principal level. The stated pay range covers all three, and placement depends on qualifications, relevant experience and assigned responsibilities.

Pay is set case by case within the range based on role, level, location and market data, and may vary with skills, education, experience, technical capability and internal equity.

The work is governed by US export control laws, including ITAR and EAR. Applicants must either be a US person (a US citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee admitted under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or person granted asylum under 8 U.S.C. § 1158), or be able to obtain the required export authorizations from the US Department of State, the US Department of Commerce or another applicable US government agency.
