Description

You will act as the subject matter expert on how integrated Digital Intelligence solutions are released and configured.

You will set up, keep current, and improve the processes, controls, and technical baselines that cover software, specifications, interfaces, requirements, and deployment artifacts across several connected systems.

You work largely on your own and lead through influence, partnering with product, program, systems engineering, software, quality, cybersecurity, DevOps, and field services teams.

The goal is releases that are traceable, consistent, and ready for operations, with audit readiness and lifecycle governance kept in view.

The company is a global supplier of equipment, systems, digital solutions, and services for freight and transit rail, drawing on more than 150 years of experience. It serves freight, transit, ports, logistics, mining, industrial, and marine markets and employs about 30,000 people worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Lead how release and configuration processes run and improve across solutions that span several products.
  • Define and maintain configuration identification and baselines for software, requirements, specifications, interfaces, architecture, test assets, deployment packages, and supporting documents.
  • Keep traceability between requirements, system versions, interface revisions, change records, verification evidence, and what is actually deployed.
  • Run solution-level change control and release readiness, weighing technical impact, dependencies, risks, and deployment needs.
  • Build integrated release plans that line up schedules, dependencies, version compatibility, and readiness across product teams.
  • Control the release and distribution of specifications, requirements, interface definitions, architecture documents, verification artifacts, and release records.
  • Work with engineering, quality, cybersecurity, and testing to confirm release candidates meet technical, quality, and compliance criteria.
  • Publish and maintain release manifests, solution bills of materials, compatibility matrices, configuration records, and deployment documentation.
  • Carry out configuration status accounting, audit preparation, and verification that released solutions match approved baselines.
  • Support deployment readiness, release sign-off, rollback planning, post-release checks, and bringing field changes back into controlled baselines.
  • Investigate release, deployment, and configuration problems, lead root-cause analysis, and drive corrective actions.
  • Coach project teams on configuration, release, traceability, and lifecycle practice, and push automation and standard processes.
  • You may be asked to take on duties outside your function or trade, and training will be given where needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • Typically 8+ years in release management, configuration management, systems engineering, DevOps, product lifecycle management, or a related technical field.
  • Proven record managing software and documentation baselines across an engineering lifecycle.
  • Experience coordinating complex, multi-product releases across cross-functional engineering groups.
  • Working knowledge of configuration management standards such as SAE EIA-649, ISO 10007, IEEE 828, or equivalent.
  • Experience with requirements and lifecycle tools such as IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (DOORS Next), Polarion, Jama Connect, or similar.
  • Experience with source control, build, and release tools such as Git, Azure DevOps, GitHub Enterprise, GitLab, Jenkins, Artifactory, Nexus, or equivalent.
  • Experience with PLM, document control, and service management platforms such as Teamcenter, Windchill, SharePoint, or ServiceNow.
  • Strong analysis, problem-solving, facilitation, and communication skills, with the ability to influence across a matrixed organization.
  • Track record of driving process improvement, setting best practice, and leading initiatives with limited guidance.
  • Preferred: experience in transportation, industrial automation, safety-critical systems, or other regulated industries.
  • Preferred: advanced degree and/or certifications such as PMP, INCOSE CSEP, CMII, ASQ CQE, ITIL, or SAFe.
