Description

This is an onsite internship, mainly based at a partner or customer office of the company.

The company works with customers to link, secure and make sense of their data and applications, from the edge to the cloud.

The role suits students or recent graduates of an accredited college, university or similar program, working toward an associate, bachelor's, master's or PhD in any field.

You will take on tasks linked to your studies, such as research, team projects, problem solving and creative thinking, building hands-on experience and professional skills.

Internships, research positions, visiting scholar roles and other program placements are all covered.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the site system administrators, logging in to HPC compute, network and storage parts to run commands and scripts that keep the system healthy and performing well.
  • Write scripts and configuration files that automate admin tasks so they run consistently and on schedule.
  • Check log files for errors and warnings that could signal health or performance problems, then work with customers and the company to resolve them.
  • Help plan and schedule system software upgrades, including estimating the time and effort they will take.
  • Use great care when running commands that require privileged access.
  • Assist more experienced colleagues on technical projects that the business unit assigns.
  • Help find and troubleshoot technical issues, and propose fixes.
  • Attend team meetings, learn project methods and work well with colleagues, communicating in person, by phone and online through email, Teams and Slack.
  • Learn the specialized compute, network and storage hardware through training, and read system documentation and diagrams to locate components.
  • Occasionally help with hands-on hardware and system installations.
  • Review hardware tickets, claim the actions you can take, record what you did in the ticket system and pass the ticket to the next step.
  • Work with the parts inventory manager where relevant.
  • Use hand tools and low-power tools such as battery screwdrivers, choosing the right tool and keeping them organized on site.
  • Carry and shift parts and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs alone, or up to 75 lbs with a second person.
  • Occasionally drive a pallet jack to move stock within the site, only for equipment that does not require an operator's license.
  • Keep learning new technologies and methods relevant to your work, and complete assigned tasks promptly and efficiently.

Requirements

  • You are currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field.
  • You have some familiarity with programming languages or technical tools used in the role.
  • You know Linux.
  • You are keen on high-performance computing and eager to keep learning.
  • You communicate well and build good relationships with others.
  • You are strong at solving problems and analyzing issues.
  • You manage your time well and meet strict deadlines.
  • You work collaboratively, look for solutions and act with a sense of urgency.

Conditions

Onsite work is expected, mainly at a partner or customer office.

The base pay is an hourly rate of USD 35.00 to 41.00 for roles in Tennessee, United States, with the final offer depending on location, work experience, education, training and skill level.

Variable incentives may also be offered on top of base pay.

Students actively enrolled in a university, college or institution pursuing a bachelor's in a technical field are the typical fit, and most interns work during school breaks and then return to their studies.

In some countries, full-time students may be able to work part-time during the school year.

The company welcomes qualified applicants, including people with disabilities, decides on merit and business need, and offers accommodation during the application and interview process.

Benefits

  • A broad range of health, financial and emotional wellbeing benefits extended to team members and their loved ones.
  • Career development programs to help you reach your goals, whether that means becoming a subject expert or moving into another division.
