Description

The company is hiring a Head of Engineering to lead the engineering organization for its Manufacturing, Sustainability and Supply Chain product area.

The role works at strategy and organization level, overseeing several layers of engineers: Engineering Directors, Architects and Principal Engineers.

You will set and carry out engineering strategy across several teams and domains, keeping it aligned with product direction, architecture and business priorities.

The job is senior, but technical depth and sound engineering judgment still matter. You will steer architecture, shape key technical decisions and keep engineering discipline strong across the organization.

AI is central to the role. You will push AI-assisted engineering across the whole company and AI-powered product features, with results you can measure in engineering productivity and customer value.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a multi-layered engineering organization of Engineering Directors, Architects and Principal Engineers.
  • Define and run the Manufacturing engineering strategy in line with product and company technology direction.
  • Shape organizational design, build capability and plan succession.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability and ongoing improvement.
  • Coach and develop leaders who lead other leaders.
  • Own delivery across several teams, keeping it predictable, high quality and on time as the organization scales.
  • Set up consistent engineering operating models and execution practices.
  • Balance business priorities, technical investment and operational excellence.
  • Make sure teams follow a "you build it, you run it" approach.
  • Set strategic technical direction across teams, working closely with Architecture.
  • Shape and govern architecture decisions, platform evolution and system design standards.
  • Hold high standards for cloud-native architecture, CI/CD and DevOps, automated testing, observability and security.
  • Stay technically credible and step into hands-on work where it helps most.
  • Lead company-wide adoption of AI-assisted engineering.
  • Help teams ship faster, with better quality and more confidence, using AI.
  • Guide the building of AI-enabled Manufacturing capabilities.
  • Make sure AI is used practically, responsibly and for real outcomes.
  • Work closely with Product Management, Architecture and Manufacturing domain leaders.
  • Align engineering work with business priorities and customer outcomes.
  • Represent Engineering in senior leadership and strategy forums.
  • Lead across core Manufacturing areas: the full lifecycle from planning, building and quality to maintenance; regulatory and industry requirements; large-scale, configurable, multi-tenant Manufacturing solutions; and aligning Manufacturing strategy with platform, data and integration capabilities.

Requirements

  • A solid base in software engineering and enterprise application development.
  • Extensive experience leading leaders, including Directors and Managers, and senior technical experts.
  • A proven record of delivering large, complex software systems across several teams.
  • A deep understanding of modern architectures such as cloud-native, APIs, distributed systems and agentic workflows.
  • Able to work at both strategic and technical levels.
  • Strong communication, decision-making and stakeholder management.
  • Customer focus and willingness to work hands-on with customers on site, including travel to key manufacturing customer locations.
  • Preferred: experience in manufacturing, ERP or industrial enterprise software.
  • Preferred: platform or multi-product engineering leadership.
  • Preferred: experience scaling engineering organizations and leading transformation.
  • Preferred: experience developing AI-enabled enterprise products.
  • Preferred: executive-level stakeholder engagement.
  • You balance strategy with real technical depth.
  • You lead leaders and build strong organizations.
  • You bring clarity and alignment and empower teams to succeed.
  • You care about quality, sustainability and customer value.
  • You see AI as a practical tool for transformation.
  • You grow impact by enabling others rather than controlling them.
