Description

The company builds AI compute, from semiconductors and software to systems at datacenter scale. It is owned by SoftBank Group and works with other companies in the SoftBank family to supply customers working at the AI frontier.

This is a permanent graduate role in the Frameworks team, with a two-year hands-on programme starting in September 2027. You will work alongside AI researchers, chip designers and software engineers, and learn from each other.

The Frameworks team connects PyTorch and Triton with compilers, which translate code for hardware, and runtime software, which executes it. The team plans work in short Scrum cycles and makes decisions based on technical evidence and user needs.

Applications close at midnight on 29 November 2026 and may close earlier, so apply early. You will hear the outcome by early December at the latest. Successful applicants complete a technical assessment, and those reaching the final stage attend in-person assessments in early spring.

Responsibilities

  • Build software that links the company's machine learning accelerators with frameworks such as PyTorch and Triton.
  • Implement features, improve performance and fix defects.
  • Write and extend tests, investigate issues and make the software more reliable and faster.
  • Write clear technical documentation.
  • Take part in code reviews, discuss ideas and learn from feedback.
  • Own clearly scoped tasks, with experienced colleagues helping you learn the codebase.
  • Work with clear priorities and regular feedback, and speak up when you spot a problem or need support.
  • Over the two years, build knowledge of compilers and runtime software, along with skills in testing, debugging and documentation.
  • Turn an idea into a software feature, investigate how it behaves and explain your work to colleagues.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Maths, Machine Learning, Data Science or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with Python or C++, and the ability to write clear, maintainable code, tests and documentation.
  • Practical experience or a strong academic grounding in compiler development, ML frameworks or another computationally intensive engineering field.
  • An interest in AI, machine learning frameworks, high-performance software or computer architecture, and openness to learning from feedback and technical discussion.
  • Evidence can come from coursework, a dissertation, personal or team projects, placements, internships, open-source contributions or other relevant experience.
  • Relevant modules and university projects can show your compiler knowledge. Say what you built or investigated, how you approached it and what you learned.

Conditions

Start date: September 2027.

Application deadline: midnight on 29 November 2026, and applications may close before then.
