Description

The Ports and Maritime team is hiring a graduate ports engineer with a civil or structural academic background to support technical work on UK and international projects.

The team has more than 200 years of combined experience in maritime and coastal infrastructure. Its clients include local authorities, private developers, defence bodies, and the company's own teams in the UK and overseas.

You will learn to design, analyse and supervise civil and structural works in marine and coastal settings. Typical work covers building, rehabilitating and protecting port and harbour structures, including quay walls, jetties, piers, revetments, breakwaters, dolphins, fendering, linkspan supports and scour protection.

You will take part from concept and feasibility through detailed design and construction support, with solutions that meet UK and international standards for safety, sustainability and compliance.

The team works across renewable energy, infrastructure decarbonisation, global goods movement, defence resilience, cruise ports, historic structure rehabilitation, marinas, waterfront development, fishing and ferry terminals.

You will work in a supportive team and build skills in structural design and analysis using codes such as BS, Eurocodes, PIANC, CIRIA and ICE guidance, plus software such as ROBOT, GRLWEAP, WALLAP, TEDDS and PLAXIS 3D, among others.

The company is a Fortune 500 infrastructure consulting firm with more than 50,000 staff. Its Professional Services business reported revenue of $16.1 billion for fiscal year 2025.

  • Provide technical support during construction, review contractor submissions and answer site queries.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, port authorities and regulatory bodies.
  • Work alongside geotechnical, hydraulic, environmental and coastal process engineers.
  • Learn and apply Health & Safety, Environmental and CDM Regulations requirements.
  • Share knowledge and help the team keep improving how it works.
