Description

The company is a venture-backed defense technology business that builds autonomy systems for air, maritime, space and other platforms operating in complex, contested settings.

The team's engineering platform is used to build, integrate, test and run autonomy capabilities. It links autonomy developers to the apps, services, compute, data and workflows they need, from local development to deployed systems.

This is a full-stack role for an engineer interested in customer-facing products, developer tools and AI-assisted workflows. You will work with internal experts to build an extensible application platform and the applications that run on it.

The platform's first users and testers are the company's own autonomy developers. It is also meant for outside engineering teams to adopt, extend and connect to their own environments.

The platform is moving toward a single engineering environment with shared foundations for APIs, user interfaces, extensions, model integrations and agent tools. The work spans frontend architecture, backend services and model integrations, and is validated through real workflows that help engineers understand complex systems, build autonomy software, investigate failures and ship reliable capabilities sooner.

Responsibilities

  • Create a front-end-centred development platform inside the processes for training, validating and deploying the pilot AI.
  • Design a composable UI architecture that lets applications add apps, dashboards, commands, widgets and shared resource context.
  • Specify contracts that are typed and versioned, linking the platform with separately built applications.
  • Provide ways for teams to bundle and release apps, then set them up, roll out upgrades or switch them off.
  • Make the platform's built-in AI experiences and external agent harnesses able to read active context, call authorized tools, move through applications and assemble dashboards.
  • Keep application behaviour consistent across local development and AI factory environments.
  • Work with simulation, autonomy and ML experts to build first applications, test the platform on real workflows and act on what you learn.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, product and design teams on platform architecture and engineering practices.

Requirements

  • You have owned production full-stack applications from design and build through rollout and support.
  • You have strong TypeScript and React skills, or work fluently in an equivalent modern web stack.
  • You have built production backend services in Go, Python, Rust or a similar language.
  • You have designed typed, versioned APIs and contracts for components deployed independently of each other.
  • You understand web and distributed-system design well, including state management, routing, async communication, browser security, authentication, authorization and failure handling.
  • You have built real-time, high-performance applications with WebGL or WebGPU.
  • You know when to extend an existing system, add an abstraction or deliberately keep a solution small.
  • You communicate clearly and work across frontend, backend, infrastructure and product.
  • Preferred: experience in every area below is not expected; relevant experience may include the following.
  • Preferred: extensible application platforms such as plugin systems, micro-frontends, web sandboxing, Web Components or VS Code extensions.
  • Preferred: agent-tool integrations and protocols such as Model Context Protocol.
  • Preferred: API gateways, reverse proxies, service catalogs or policy-driven routing.
  • Preferred: schema-driven API work using OpenAPI, JSON Schema, Protocol Buffers, gRPC or generated clients.
  • Preferred: Kubernetes and ingress or gateways.
  • Preferred: composable user experiences such as dashboard builders, configurable layouts, data visualisation or collaborative application state.
  • Preferred: robotics, autonomy, simulation, aerospace or other fields where software interacts with real-world systems.
  • Preferred: shipping Electron applications.

Conditions

Temporary employee offer: pay within the stated range, plus a temporary benefits package that starts after 60 days of employment.

Pay depends on factors including skill set, experience level, licenses and certifications, and work location. Offers are contingent on a cleared background check and possibly a reference check.

Military fellows and part-time employees are not eligible for benefits.

Questions about pay and offers go to your talent acquisition representative.

The company is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer, and it welcomes requests for disability accommodation.

A full-time regular employee offer package is referenced, but no details are given.

Benefits

  • Your work feeds directly into the autonomy software engineers use to develop, validate and deliver.
  • Design how engineers and AI agents share platform tools while keeping user control, security and accountability intact.
  • Own complete workflows, from user experience and frontend architecture through backend services, APIs, deployment and operations.
  • Work alongside engaged users and engineers on autonomy, simulation, data and infrastructure problems, and see the effect of your decisions.
