Description

The company is hiring a geotechnical engineer to lead consulting delivery of engineering services on infrastructure projects in Vancouver and other regions.

You will manage scope, schedule, budget, risk and quality, act as the main link to clients, and mentor junior staff.

The company works across water, environment, energy, transportation and buildings, from advisory and planning through design and program and construction management.

It is a Fortune 500 firm with over 50,000 staff and reported $16.1 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Be the main day-to-day contact for the client, running meetings, setting expectations and keeping relationships strong.
  • Help with proposals, scope development and client presentations, and spot follow-on work to grow key accounts in Metro Vancouver and nearby areas.
  • Define scope, assumptions, exclusions and deliverables, then handle change requests, contract amendments and commercial risk.
  • Build and track budgets, forecasts, resourcing plans and schedules, and support invoicing with the finance team.
  • Make sure deliverables meet quality expectations and push health and safety in both field and office work.
  • Deliver projects on time, on budget and with strong technical quality.
  • Keep clients satisfied and win repeat work through reliable delivery and clear communication.
  • Lead teams through planning, mentoring and clear accountability.
  • Flag risks early and plan technical and commercial responses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering, or a related field, plus 6 years of related experience.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills, with a record of working well with others.
  • Experience running geotechnical investigation programs and writing or reviewing interpretive reports with recommendations for analysis, design and construction.
  • Solid working knowledge of geotechnical practice in BC, including site characterization, groundwater, soils and rock, analysis and design, seismic considerations and construction support.
  • Proven ability to manage clients, budgets and schedules in a consulting setting.
  • Track record delivering local infrastructure for municipal and provincial clients, such as Metro Vancouver and MOTI.
  • Preferred: P.Eng. with Engineers and Geoscientists BC in good standing, or eligibility to register.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in geotechnical engineering.
  • Preferred: typically 10+ years of geotechnical consulting, including project management from site investigation through report, design and construction support.
  • Preferred: experience in one or more of transportation, marine or coastal, water or wastewater, tunnels, earthworks, landslides or major urban development.

Conditions

Work is split between the office and local site visits in Metro Vancouver and nearby regions.

Periodic field oversight during drilling and investigation programs, plus construction support as needed.

New hires must attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at a company office as a condition of employment.

Applicant information is kept confidential under EEO guidelines, AI supports screening and assessment, and the hiring team makes final decisions.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D and disability coverage, depending on employment status.
  • Paid time off, leaves of absence and flexible work options.
  • Voluntary benefits, perks, well-being resources and an employee assistance program.
  • Business travel insurance, service recognition awards, a retirement savings plan and an employee stock purchase plan.
  • Training and development programs to build technical and leadership skills.
  • Access to cutting-edge technology and a network of experts, plus the chance to work on local and global projects.
