Description

The Gametech Innovation team is a group of developers who help the company's game teams build better games with technical tools and systems. The work covers Unity and Unreal, and the tools span many kinds of game development needs.

This is a mid-level developer role. You will deliver features and help keep the team's tools and systems stable, taking part in each solution from start to finish.

You will report to the Gametech Innovation Manager and work closely with developers from the team's studios worldwide, including Paris, Montreal and Bucharest, alongside game programmers, technical artists and producers on the game teams.

Recruitment has four steps: a first interview about your background and questions, a short case study, a second interview with technical team members to present and discuss your case study, and a final interview with a hiring manager about your experience and how you approach game technology.

This role can lead to a senior position in the team or to specialising in engine, pipeline or platform technology. Senior developers provide training and mentoring, and internal moves across teams and studios are possible through the Talent Move programme.

Responsibilities

  • Take a feature or subsystem from first benchmarking and prototyping through to implementation and release to game teams.
  • Write maintainable, self-explanatory C++ and C for Unreal and Unity.
  • Debug and profile tools across engines and platforms (console, PC, mobile) to keep them reliable in production.
  • Maintain and extend the CI/CD and build pipelines so new tool versions reach game teams continuously.
  • Use AI coding assistants in your daily work, test new approaches and technologies, and suggest worthwhile improvements to industrialise.
  • In your first three months, work comfortably in the codebase and deliver fixes and features on existing tools with limited guidance.
  • After that, own a feature or subsystem end to end, suggest improvements to tools and workflows on your own initiative, and become a technical point of contact for the game teams you support.

Requirements

  • Solid proficiency in Unreal Engine and/or Unity, and in C++ and C.
  • Practical experience using AI coding assistants in daily development.
  • Strong debugging and profiling skills across several systems, and the ability to write clean, maintainable, self-explanatory code.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD and build pipelines.
  • Curiosity: you enjoy digging into unfamiliar problems and trying new engines, tools and approaches.
  • Resourcefulness: you turn vague or poorly defined requests into workable technical paths, treat constraints as problems to solve, and propose improvements beyond your assigned scope.
