Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) Data42 (Palantir Foundry)

Description

The company wants a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) on its Data42 team. This person works inside domain teams, turning hard problems into working data and AI applications on Palantir Foundry.

You will prototype quickly, refine solutions with users, and take them to production, linking end users, product staff and platform engineers to produce results that can be measured.

The role combines software engineering, data engineering and product thinking, with a focus on getting users to adopt workflows and keeping solutions reliable over time.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside domain teams to learn their processes, set success measures and turn their needs into delivered features, leading discovery and iterating from prototype through to production.
• Design and build complete solutions in Foundry, including data pipelines, transformations, ontology alignment and application workflows.
• Set up and tune Foundry applications that support operational decisions and repeatable analysis, applying Foundry patterns for permissions, audit trails, performance and releases.
• Ingest, transform and model varied datasets so they are reliable for analytics and applications. Define data quality checks and record assumptions and limits for each dataset.
• Build user-facing applications or workflows and connect them to upstream and downstream systems. Support deployment, monitoring and ongoing improvements.
• Coordinate with product managers, data scientists, data engineers, governance and platform teams on scope, timing and standards. Explain trade-offs clearly and remove blockers through technical and stakeholder work.
• Create reusable templates, components and patterns that speed up future work across Data42. Mentor colleagues and contribute to documentation, playbooks and delivery standards.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Biology, Bioengineering, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics or a related field.
• 8+ years working in biomedical research, bioengineering, bioinformatics or a closely related area.
• Hands-on experience building and running solutions in Palantir Foundry, including pipelines, ontology, applications and access controls. You must think Foundry-first when engineering and delivering.
• Solid experience working with stakeholders to understand their problems, define workable solutions and build proofs of concept that show business value.
• A track record of shipping software, data or analytics products in fast-moving, user-facing settings, moving rapidly from prototype to production.
• Strong programming skills and comfort working across both the data and application layers.
• Strong empathy for users and a focus on workflows. You can work directly with end users, clarify vague requirements and deliver in iterations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management, with dependability and operational discipline.
• Desirable: experience delivering in regulated or sensitive-data settings, with close attention to access control and audit needs.
• Desirable: familiarity with product discovery methods such as problem framing, value definition and iterative MVP delivery.
• Desirable: experience enabling analytics, AI or machine learning inside production applications.

Conditions

Base salary range: CHF129,500 to CHF240,500 per year.

Hybrid work: 3 days per week in the office.

Base pay is set using gender-neutral criteria such as skills, competencies and experience, under the company's pay policy, and is reviewed periodically after you join.
