Description

The team is part of a global, publicly traded infrastructure consultancy, a Fortune 500 firm whose work spans transport, buildings, water, new energy and the environment.

Its Professional Services business reported $16.1 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2025, and the wider organisation has over 50,000 staff.

This role suits an established consultant who wants to advance, or a designer who wants to build deeper technical skills in a well-known fire safety practice.

You will work with office leads to run and grow a local team, guiding and mentoring people with senior staff support. You need proven experience and readiness to take on more.

Responsibilities

  • Take fire engineering work from start to finish with little senior oversight, including CFD modelling, evacuation modelling and other analytical fire engineering.
  • Manage design projects, and prepare and check the work of others.
  • Adapt standard procedures or methods from earlier assignments to solve new problems.
  • Take part in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.
  • Help produce accurate cost estimates for the technical work on projects.

Requirements

  • A relevant degree or professional qualification.
  • Work experience in a similar consultancy or another relevant business.
  • Proven experience across a range of sectors and technical fire engineering applications, with a focus on UK regulations and markets.
  • Experience managing the fire engineering side of small to medium design projects within agreed timescales and budgets.
  • Experience guiding entry-level fire engineers.
  • Experience preparing fee proposals and task variations for fire engineering work.

Conditions

Hybrid working, split between a company office, a remote location or a client site.

All new hires must attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at a company office as a condition of employment.

The company is an equal opportunity employer and, as a Disability Confident employer, interviews applicants with a disability or long-term condition who meet the essential criteria.

Benefits

  • Core and personalised benefits to support your future and wellbeing, adjusted to your lifestyle.
  • Career development opportunities.
  • Flexible hybrid working to help you balance work and life.
  • Technical practice networks.
  • Access to the company's own learning university.
  • Volunteering days.
  • Access to industry-leading technology and thinking, and work with a large impact.
