Description

About the company

The company’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

About the role

AI is changing both sides of the security equation, and the company is focused on putting frontier AI capabilities in the hands of defenders. Cybersecurity is a fast-growing area for the company, spanning enterprise security teams that adopt Claude for their own security work and security companies that build their products on our models. The buyers are demanding and data-driven, from CISOs to hands-on practitioners in security engineering, application security, security operations, threat intelligence, and incident response.

As Field Marketing Lead, Cybersecurity, you will lead the company's field marketing for the cybersecurity audience around the world, helping position Claude as the trusted AI partner for security teams. You will align closely with the sales organization, develop the marketing strategies and tools the field needs, and partner with the company's cybersecurity experts in product marketing, solutions marketing, and across the business to turn their positioning and messaging into programs and campaigns. You will be the cybersecurity lead that our campaigns and regional field marketing teams draw on, working with customers in every segment and with a focus on expanding within existing accounts. You will make sure that how we show up to CISOs, practitioners, and the buying committee is credible, consistent, and tied to revenue, whether in a global campaign, an executive roundtable, or a flagship industry event.

Location: this is a global role, with a preference for candidates based in San Francisco or New York.

Responsibilities

  • Own the global cybersecurity field marketing plan: define how we reach CISOs, practitioners, and the buying committee in every customer segment, the annual program calendar, and the goals and success metrics agreed with sales leadership before budget is committed
  • Align with the sales organization worldwide: agree on target accounts and buying committees, build programs that expand the company's footprint in existing accounts and open new opportunities, and make sure account teams have what they need to invite, follow up, and convert
  • Partner with product marketing, solutions marketing, and the company's cybersecurity experts: build on their positioning, messaging, and enablement, and work with them to turn cyber use cases into the programs and campaigns that build awareness and demand
  • Develop the marketing strategies and tools the field needs: playbooks, program kits, speaker guidance, and event recommendations that let regional field marketers in the Americas, EMEA, and APAC run cybersecurity programs locally without starting from scratch
  • Design and run flagship cybersecurity moments in the field: executive roundtables, CISO dinners, practitioner workshops, and the company's field presence around major industry events such as RSAC, Black Hat, Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit, and Infosecurity Europe, in step with the launch, content, and thought leadership plans led by product and solutions marketing
  • Serve as the cybersecurity field lead for integrated campaigns: bring audience insight, field feedback, and program ideas, and extend global campaigns into regional programs so they land with CISOs, practitioners, and the rest of the buying committee
  • Bring the voice of the security buyer back into the company: share what you hear from customers, analysts, and the field with Product, Sales, and Marketing leadership
  • Measure what matters: sourced and influenced pipeline, expansion within existing accounts, program-level attribution, and a clear read on which programs earn more investment, built with Marketing Ops
  • Protect the brand with a skeptical audience: hold a high bar for technical accuracy, keep the story focused on defenders and responsible deployment, avoid fear-based messaging, and know when to say no to a program that would not earn trust
  • Operate as connective tissue across the company: Sales, Campaigns, regional Field Marketing, Product Marketing, Solutions Marketing, Partner Marketing, Partnerships, Events, and Comms all touch this audience. You keep them coordinated and the customer experience coherent
  • Minimum qualifications
  • Working fluency in the cybersecurity landscape, across areas such as security operations, detection and response, threat intelligence, application security, vulnerability management, cloud security, and governance, risk and compliance, with enough technical depth to hold a credible conversation with both CISOs and hands-on practitioners
  • A track record of partnering with sales teams on pipeline and on expansion within existing accounts, including account-based programs and executive engagement, with results to show for them
  • Experience across both integrated campaigns and field marketing, and the judgment to know which one a given goal calls for
  • Experience operating globally: you have led programs across multiple regions and enabled local teams to run them well
  • Strong influence without authority: able to set direction for campaigns and regional field marketers who do not report to you
  • Comfort building in ambiguity: the playbook for this motion is being written now, and you'll write much of it
  • Rigor on measurement: fluent in pipeline attribution with sales and ops counterparts
  • Experience working alongside product marketing and technical experts, and turning their positioning and messaging into field programs and campaigns
  • Range across customer segments: you can adapt a program for a large enterprise, a mid-size company, and a fast-growing startup
  • Preferred qualifications
  • 8+ years of B2B marketing experience, with significant time in field marketing or demand generation for cybersecurity buyers at a security vendor or an enterprise technology company
  • Hands-on background in security, such as time as a practitioner, sales engineer, or product marketer for a security product
  • Familiarity with the AI ecosystem and how enterprises adopt AI products, including how AI is changing security work for defenders
  • Experience marketing trust-sensitive or dual-use products, where responsible deployment is central to the story
  • Existing relationships in the security community: CISO networks, analysts, industry groups, and event organizers
  • Experience marketing to regulated industries or public sector buyers, where security review shapes the deal
  • Experience working with security technology partners, managed security service providers (MSSPs), or global systems integrators
  • The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.
  • For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.
  • Annual Salary:
  • $320,000 - $400,000 USD
  • Logistics
  • Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
  • Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience
  • Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position
  • Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
  • Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.
  • We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.
  • Your safety matters to us. To protect yourself from potential scams, remember that the company recruiters only contact you from @the company's site email addresses. In some cases, we may partner with vetted recruiting agencies who will identify themselves as working on behalf of the company. Be cautious of emails from other domains. Legitimate the company recruiters will never ask for money, fees, or banking information before your first day. If you're ever unsure about a communication, don't click any links—visit the company's site directly for confirmed position openings.
  • How we're different
  • We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At the company we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
  • The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to the company, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
  • Come work with us!
  • We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.
